We transformed this Indiranagar penthouse into a quiet sanctuary, anchored by a Corten steel staircase that blends art with structure. Less is more, and here, every detail is intentional.

The living room of Terra Gardens is a study in warm minimalism. We used a monochromatic palette of earthy tones, soft fabrics, and natural materials to create a sense of calm and unity. The open-plan layout and simple details are guided by the principle of timeless functionality.

This close-up of the living area shows the curated simplicity of the design. A comfortable sofa is accented with textured pillows, while a modern floor lamp and abstract art add subtle points of interest without disturbing the room's serene atmosphere.

Natural light floods the living space, highlighting the clean lines and refined details. The design of this penthouse was driven by the clients' desire for a tranquil retreat, a space that radiates calm and invites relaxation away from the city's hustle.

The sculptural Corten steel staircase is the heart of the Terra Gardens penthouse. Its raw, rustic finish and sweeping curves stand in beautiful contrast to the polished floors and minimalist decor, blending art with functionality.

This view showcases the relationship between the sculptural staircase and the open-plan kitchen. The raw beauty of the Corten steel and wooden steps creates a powerful visual anchor in the home's otherwise understated and monochromatic design.

The kitchen is designed for simplicity and function, featuring a clean white island with a built-in cooktop and breakfast bar. The handleless cabinetry and integrated appliances maintain the minimalist aesthetic that defines the entire penthouse.

A closer look at the kitchen island reveals the clean lines and high-quality finishes. This space is designed to be both a functional cooking area and a social hub, reflecting the home's emphasis on effortless living and shared moments.

The dining area is positioned to offer a view of the magnificent Corten steel staircase. The simple wooden table and modern chairs are complemented by a large, bespoke pendant light, creating an elegant setting for meals.

A bespoke, monolithic pendant light hangs over the dining table, its rustic finish echoing the raw beauty of the nearby staircase. This piece enhances the sculptural quality of the space and reinforces the home's curated, artistic feel.

This shot captures the dynamic relationship between the dining area, kitchen, and the sweeping staircase. The open layout creates a sense of flow and unity, where luxury is not loud but quietly woven into every element.

About Terra Gardens: Sculptural Minimalism

The Corten steel staircase is not just a visual centerpiece; it is a structural exercise in balance. Designing it required careful planning to ensure it felt light despite its raw, heavy materiality. It bridges our open-plan kitchen and dining area, forcing a natural flow through the home that connects the living space to private zones. If you are considering an open-plan layout, the secret is ensuring vertical elements like staircases do not block natural light but instead guide it.

We focus on creating homes that breathe. At Terra Gardens, the client wanted to move away from the city's noise, so we kept the material palette tight: stone, wood, and steel. This monochromatic approach prevents visual clutter, allowing the architecture to speak for itself.

The kitchen island is designed for function and social interaction, not just preparation. We integrated cabinetry handles into the joinery to maintain the sleek, monolithic look. When choosing materials for a minimalist home, texture becomes your primary tool. The difference between a flat wall and one with lime plaster changes how a room feels at different times of day.

In a bustling area like Indiranagar, homes often struggle to feel private. By creating dedicated zones using subtle flooring transitions and strategic lighting, we ensured the apartment feels like a detached villa rather than just another city unit. We approach every project as a dialogue. Tell us what your non-negotiables are, and we will build the space around them.
