Your voice matters. We create space for poets to question, rebel, and speak truth to power. Join a community that treats your words as a force for social change.

The results of our 'My Words for Palestine' contest. We use our platform to encourage poets to use their pens as a tool of activism.

The contest alert for 'My Words for Palestine', featuring the poem 'If I must die' by Refaat Alareer. We believe poets have a responsibility to speak out against the injustices of the world.

The first prize winning poem from our Palestine contest. The poet, Banashri, uses her words as a "rallying cry" against oppression.

The second prize winning poem by Akshita Sharma. Her work paints a poignant picture of life under conflict.

The third prize winning poem by Nashrah Tanvir, a powerful piece that questions the silence in the face of suffering.

As Indians, we have always stood up for what is moral and just. We believe it is our duty to use poetry to stand against genocide and misinformation.

About Words for Change

Every poem submitted to our 'Words for Change' cycle is personally reviewed by our team, not just filtered through an algorithm. We look for raw honesty and impact, whether you are writing in English, Hindi, or a regional language, because we believe your perspective deserves to be read, shared, and amplified.

Turning Ink into Activism

Poetry has always been a way to stand up for what is right. At Delhi Poetry Slam, we don't just host contests for the sake of it. We run the 'Words for Change' cluster to give poets a platform to address the issues that keep us up at night. From social injustice to the personal struggles of those marginalized in our society, your pen is your most powerful tool.

How It Works

When we launch a theme, whether it is for Palestine, queer rights, or local struggles, we want to hear your truth. Here is what you can expect when you participate:

  • Inclusive Eligibility: We welcome work in English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and other Indian languages. If you can write it, we want to read it.
  • Fair Review: Our team manually reads every submission. We aren't looking for textbook perfection; we are looking for the 'why' behind your words.
  • Real Recognition: Winners receive cash prizes and, more importantly, a wider audience through our social media and potential anthologies.

Why This Matters

We’ve seen poets write about Dalit rights, the struggles of the queer community, and the silent suffering in conflict zones. These aren't just entries—they are testimonies. When you submit your work here, you aren't just competing for a prize; you are adding your voice to a collective outcry. We keep our entry process simple and digital because activism shouldn't be gated by complicated forms or high fees. Whether you are a seasoned writer or just found the courage to open your notebook, your voice has a home here.
