DIY Home Decor Workshops Inspired by My Travels
I do not just travel to see new places. I travel to learn. From the textures of Jodhpur to the rattan crafts of Chiang Mai, my workshops are where these inspirations become projects you can build yourself.
Relaxing in a beautiful, oversized rattan chair during a trip to Thailand. I'm always drawn to furniture made from natural materials like cane and rattan. Their texture and form inspire many of the boho and sustainable decor ideas we explore in my workshops.
I fell in love with these stunning wooden and glass display cabinets in Chiang Mai. The craftsmanship and classic design are a great reminder of how timeless, well-made furniture can be, which is a principle I try to bring into my furniture makeover projects.
Enjoying a quiet moment in a cafe in Chiang Mai, surrounded by beautiful wooden interiors and colorful stained glass. The atmosphere of a place, its textures, and its use of light are all things I draw upon for home decor inspiration.
The magical look of a traditional Rajasthani haveli at night in Jodhpur. The warm uplighting on the stone walls and the intricately carved jharokha balcony create a stunning effect that inspires ideas for ambient lighting in home decor.
A closer look at the incredible detail on a Jodhpur building, from the carved stone brackets to the classic blue door. This level of craftsmanship is a huge inspiration, reminding me to appreciate the small details that make a design special.
This cozy reading nook in a Jodhpur heritage hotel shows how to blend textures and patterns. The stone pillars, patterned floor tiles, and simple wooden furniture create a space that feels both historic and welcoming, a great reference for creating inviting corners at home.
An evening view of a courtyard in Jodhpur, with soft lighting on the textured stone walls and hanging plants. This is a perfect example of how to use lighting and greenery to create a peaceful and beautiful outdoor or semi-outdoor space.
Taking a moment to relax on a traditional manji, or cot, in Jodhpur. The simplicity and functionality of classic Indian furniture are a constant source of inspiration for my DIY projects, blending modern aesthetics with our cultural roots.
A classic, sturdy blue door with traditional hardware, set against a warm, earthy wall. Elements like this are a great source of inspiration for furniture makeovers, especially when thinking about color palettes and hardware choices for upcycling projects.
Another perspective of the beautiful Jodhpur architecture at night. The contrast between the rough stone, the smooth jharokha, and the colored glass window shows a masterful mix of materials and textures.
About My Design & Travel Journal
My DIY workshops are not about buying new decor items. They are about upcycling what you already own. Whether we are turning an old glass bottle into a planter or using leftover fabric for wall art, I bring all the tools like staple guns, varnish, and paints to your home in Bengaluru so we can create something meaningful together.
Travel is the biggest influence on my creative process. Walking through the narrow streets of Jodhpur or exploring the markets in Thailand, I am always looking at how traditional materials are used. My workshops translate these observations into practical decor projects you can actually replicate at home.
We do not do mass-produced goods here. Everything is about khud hi kar lo (do it yourself) and keeping things sustainable. Here is what we can create together:
- Upcycling 101: We take everyday waste like metal cans or glass bottles and turn them into aesthetic home decor pieces using decoupage and acrylics.
- Texture & Light: My boho cane lamp workshops are about taking raw materials and adding your personality through yarn, tassels, and fabric.
- Architectural Art: We focus on fabric manipulation, like creating 2x3 ft wall art without the need for painting, using staples and layering techniques.
I conduct these workshops right at your home in Bengaluru. You do not need to bring professional tools; I bring the heavy-duty equipment and materials. All you need is a bit of curiosity and a willingness to get a little glue on your hands. If you have been wanting to change up your space, let us chat.
