When I am on set for a commercial campaign or editorial shoot, I prioritize continuity. That means keeping the hair looking exactly the same through every single take, whether we are shooting for HBS Magazine or a commercial for Hector Professional. I bring my full kit including extensions and texturizing sprays so we can switch between sleek, high-fashion looks and edgy, lived-in styles on the fly without stopping the production.
Editorial work is a different beast compared to salon styling. It is not just about making hair look good in the mirror; it is about how the hair reads on camera, especially for 4K video resolution and studio lighting.
My approach to brand campaigns involves a deep dive into the creative brief. We discuss the texture, volume, and movement long before the camera starts rolling. Whether we are creating the futuristic, avant-garde styles seen in the Essential Looks Indian Edition or the sleek, commercial finish for a brand ad, my role is to ensure the hair holds up under heat, wind, and multiple outfit changes.
I often work with a dedicated team of assistants to manage the backstage buzz, ensuring that every loose strand is pinned and every wave is set correctly. This preparation allows the creative director and production team to focus on the shot while I handle the technicalities of hair longevity and consistency.
