Flexibility Training for Pole & Rope
Unlock the active range you need for cleaner shapes on the pole and greater control on the rope through intensive, small-group flexibility workshops.
This is a great example of how dedicated flexibility work can unlock beautiful shapes on the pole. Achieving a clean split like this requires not just passive range of motion, but the active strength to hold it, which is a core focus in my workshops.
Coming back to the aerial rope is always a humbling and rewarding experience. It demands so much upper body and core strength, but that strength is what supports and enables deep flexibility in the air.
About Applications for Pole & Rope
If you have hit a plateau with your aerial skills, it is usually not because you lack strength, but because you lack the active range to hold your lines. In these sessions, we move away from passive stretching and focus on PNF techniques and heavy spotting. This builds the specific strength you need to nail those clean splits on the pole or stay steady during dynamic rope sequences.
When you are fighting for a clean jade split on the pole or trying to hold a solid line on the aerial rope, tension is your biggest barrier. My approach to flexibility is rooted in Russian-style training. It is not about how far you can force a stretch, but how much control you have at the limit of your range.
We cap these sessions at 10 participants. I need to be hands-on with everyone to ensure you are engaging the right muscle groups rather than just hanging on your joints.
What to expect in a workshop:
- Active Flexibility Drills: Building the strength to hold your leg or arm exactly where you want it, rather than letting gravity do the work.
- PNF Techniques: Using Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation to safely encourage your nervous system to let go of muscle tension.
- Apparatus-Specific Application: We take what we learn on the floor and apply it directly to the pole or rope. We break down common sticking points, like why your chest collapses or why your hips won't square up.
This is not a relaxed yoga class. It is 90 minutes of intensive, technical work. Whether you are joining me at BoulderBox in Vasant Kunj or attending a weekend bootcamp, come prepared to work hard, sweat, and leave with a much clearer understanding of your body's mechanics.
