Sharing my research-led creative process through immersive workshops, and reflecting on the journey that shapes my performances.

A testimonial from my time at London Performance Studios. Their Seeding Space initiative gave me the liberating space I needed to focus single-mindedly on creating new work.

A review of my work *Abandhana*. It's always insightful to see how audiences and critics connect with a piece. This feedback speaks to the power of the music, the chanting, and the earthy colors of the production.

I was humbled to receive the 'Natya Ratna' award at the Trinity Arts Festival. This recognition is an impetus for me to continue striving to serve the art in the most honest way possible.

An announcement for a unique 2-day workshop focusing on both the process and the product. I love guiding dancers to explore the creative journey of choreography, not just the final performance.

A review of *Abandhana* that highlights its ability to transport an audience. It also notes my rhythmic footwork, intricate gestures, and captivating gaze, which are all key elements of my performance style.

Another wonderful review of *Abandhana*, calling it a "mature work" and noting the potent juxtaposition of determination and fear in my movement. This kind of nuanced feedback is invaluable.

About this collection

My workshops go beyond standard technique, focusing on the creative journey rather than just the final product. Whether we are exploring the nuances of a Marathi abhang or decoding ancient Pāli texts, I work with students to uncover the underlying narratives that inform our movement vocabulary.

My Approach to Teaching

Learning to dance is rarely about just executing a sequence of steps. In my workshops, I invite participants to treat the studio as a research space. We dive into the text first. If we are working on an Abhang or a Javali, we spend time understanding the poet, the historical context, and the emotional intent before we begin to move. This process helps you internalize the abhinaya, or expressive aspect, because you are dancing from a place of understanding rather than imitation.

I offer modules for dancers of all levels, ranging from short-term intensives on specific repertoires to long-term mentorship. We focus on the architecture of choreography—how to build a story, how to use space, and how to collaborate with musicians to create a soundscape that supports your movement.

Why Recognition Matters

Receiving awards like the Natya Ratna at the Trinity Arts Festival is a moment of immense gratitude. It serves as a validation that there is an audience for honest, research-heavy work. These recognitions are not just accolades; they are an impetus to continue pushing the boundaries of Bharatanatyam, ensuring that the traditional grammar remains relevant to contemporary sensibilities.

Collaborations and The Journey

My work is rarely done in isolation. I am constantly learning from my collaborators—the musicians, the lighting designers, and the fellow artists who challenge my perspective. Featured in this gallery are some of the residencies, like the Seeding Space initiative in London, which have provided the quiet space needed to develop new productions. If you are interested in collaborating on a project or wish to join a workshop, I am always open to starting a conversation about how we can create something meaningful together.

I view dance as a continuous search, a way to listen to voices from the past and share them with you today. My studio is a space where research meets movement, and where we embrace the messy, beautiful work of creation together.
