This piece, part of *Akhyāt – Ākhyānā*, is based on a poem by the courtesan-turned-nun Amrapali about the inevitability of aging. I worked with my husband and musician, Sharan, to set the poem to two contrasting ragas to highlight the shift from youth to old age.

About Akhyāt – Ākhyānā: Narratives of the Unheard

Bringing these stories to the stage requires more than just choreography; it demands a deep dive into ancient Pāli, Marathi, and Tamil texts. When I develop a piece for this series, I collaborate closely with my musicians to ensure the raga and rhythm do not just accompany the movement, but actively shape the emotional narrative of the poet’s original words.
