Hand-Painted Ceramic Serveware
I shape these plates and platters by hand, embracing the little quirks and wobbles that make them feel alive. Every piece is hand-painted with stories, patterns, and memories, designed to bring a bit of warmth to your table.

About Hand-Painted Serveware
When you hold one of my plates, you will notice it is not perfectly symmetrical, and that is intentional. My serveware is slab-built, meaning it retains the organic, rustic thickness of the clay rather than the thin uniformity of factory-made crockery. Because I use lead-free, food-safe glazes, these are perfectly safe for your daily meals, though I always recommend hand-washing them to keep the hand-painted details vibrant for years.
My process is rarely about speed. It starts with a simple lump of clay, which I roll out and shape by hand. You might see the marks of my fingers or the slight irregularity in a rim, and that is exactly how it should be. It is the contrast between the rough, earthy stoneware and the intricate, hand-painted details that I love the most.
How I Create Your Serveware
I use several techniques to give each piece its character:
- Slab-Building: This allows for non-standard, organic shapes like my leaf-shaped trays and oval platters.
- Embossing: I use rolling pins to press botanical and folk-art patterns directly into the damp clay, creating textures that catch the glaze beautifully.
- Sgraffito: For some of my more detailed pieces, I carve designs through a layer of colored slip to reveal the clay body underneath, creating a sharp, graphic finish.
Care & Use
Everything from my studio in Kalyan is made for living, not just for looking. While my plates and bowls are sturdy, they are fired at temperatures that make them durable, but they still appreciate a gentle hand. Avoid the microwave if you can, and always hand-wash them with a soft sponge. I focus on making things that don't just sit on a shelf but actually hold your food, whether it is a morning snack or a festive dinner spread. If you are looking for something specific, like a matching set or a custom motif, feel free to reach out. I am always happy to discuss what I can create for your home.
