Our Work: Rescues, Recovery, and Second Chances

This is a glimpse into life at CUPA. From our trauma centre to the joy of forever homes, these are the stories of the animals we fight for every day.

Meet Genie. She thought she had found her forever home, only to be returned just as she was starting to feel safe. We're committed to finding her a true family that understands a pet is for life, not just for a little while.

This is the moment we live for. Watch as Raksha, a beautiful German Shepherd we rescued, finally goes home to her new family and a life of freedom on a huge farm. This is what your support makes possible.

Our work extends beyond cats and dogs. This is a glimpse into our Large Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, where animals rescued from lives of hard labor find peace. You can sponsor their care and become a part of their story.

This is the smile of Lakhan, one of our beloved senior residents. He's a gentle soul looking for someone to sponsor his golden years at our Geriatric Centre. Your support provides him with food, medical care, and endless affection.

The harsh reality of our work. These five tiny ginger kittens were found dumped in a sack outside our Trauma Centre. They are safe with us for now, but they urgently need loving homes to grow up in.

We are honored to share this important message from the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City. He reminds us that abandoning a pet is an act of cruelty and that caring for our community animals is a shared responsibility.

A pet is a promise for a lifetime, through puppyhood and their golden years. This is a reminder of the commitment we ask of every adopter, because our senior animals deserve to be cherished, not abandoned when they need us most.

About this collection

This is a look at the front lines of our work. Every animal you see has a unique recovery story, but they all share the need for a second chance. If you’re moved by these photos, know that there’s a concrete way to get involved, from sponsoring a senior resident at our Geriatric Centre to opening your home to a rescue in need.

For over 34 years, we have been working on the ground in Bangalore to provide rescue, relief, and medical care for street animals. This collection captures the reality of our work: it is sometimes heartbreaking, often challenging, but ultimately rewarding when we see a rescue recover or find a family.

We operate across multiple specialized facilities. Our Trauma Centre in Sanjayanagara handles the urgent, critical cases of injured or abused animals. Our Geriatric Centre in Mylappanahalli is a sanctuary for older dogs and special-needs animals who often get overlooked. Beyond dogs and cats, our Large Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (LARRC) provides a safe haven for rescued cattle, donkeys, and horses who have escaped lives of heavy labor.

How You Can Help

We believe that true change requires action. Here is how you can support our mission:

  • Adoption: If you are ready for a lifelong commitment, browse our rescues. We screen adopters carefully to ensure a perfect match, as we want this to be the last home they ever need.
  • Passive Adoption: Can’t bring an animal home? You can sponsor a senior or special-needs resident. Your monthly contribution covers their food, medical, and daily care, and you are welcome to visit them.
  • Volunteering: We need help with daily care, socializing, and administrative support. Join us to see the work firsthand.

We advocate for 'science, not fear' and responsible pet ownership. Whether you are looking for a pet or want to support our legal advocacy and animal welfare initiatives, your involvement makes a tangible difference in the lives of animals who have no voice of their own.

We’ve been in the trenches of Bangalore’s animal welfare for over three decades. We aren’t just a shelter; we’re a team of vets, volunteers, and advocates fighting to give street animals the protection they’ve been denied. If you’re looking to make a real difference, you’re in the right place.
