Our Studio Story: The Heart of Culture Chauraha
From our first studio in Delhi to our online creative community, this is the journey of how we teach art.
A bittersweet moment with our students on one of the last days before we temporarily closed our Delhi studio. The journey continues online.
My mom and me at the studio. Though we've paused in-person classes for now due to travel, we're excited to focus more on our online workshops.
A final group photo with our beloved students at the Delhi studio. We miss this chaos, but we're so grateful for the memories and the new online chapter.
One of our adult students with me at the studio. The relationships we build with our students are the best part of what we do.
Me with some of our wonderful young students. Their energy and creativity are what make teaching so rewarding.
Another precious memory from our last days at the physical studio. We can't wait to see all our students, old and new, in our online classes.
Two young visitors admiring the artworks at our annual student exhibition, "Through the Eyes of a Child."
A special guest, Kavita Subramaniam, at our student art exhibition. It was such an honor to have her visit.
A proud student with her family and guests at our exhibition. It's a wonderful moment for them to see their work professionally displayed.
A student discussing her artwork with guests at the exhibition. These events are a huge confidence booster for our young artists.
About Our Studio & Story
While our physical Delhi studio is currently on pause due to our own travels, our art journey has truly expanded. We now connect with students across different time zones, bringing that same small-batch, step-by-step guidance right into your living room through our live online workshops.
Culture Chauraha started quite simply with Ritu Aunty's art classes in 2016. The name means 'crossroads,' which felt right because our journey has been a series of shifts—moving between cities, navigating the pandemic, and eventually bridging the gap between our Indian roots and our current global presence.
We believe art should be a break from the day, not another task to tick off. That's why we moved our focus to small-batch online sessions. Whether it's impasto painting with a palette knife or exploring printmaking, we keep the groups small (usually 8 to 15 people) so you aren't just a face on a screen. You get actual instruction, corrections, and encouragement.
We have hosted everything from student exhibitions like 'Through the Eyes of a Child' to specialized printmaking masterclasses. Even though we aren't at a physical location in Delhi right now, the community we built there stays with us. We have adapted our teaching methods to work for both IST and EST time zones, ensuring that no matter where you are, you can pick up a brush or a palette knife and create something you are proud of. We don't care if you have a degree or have never held a paintbrush—we care that you enjoy the process of making something, just for yourself.
