Stop chasing shortcuts. Real power comes from technique, not muscle. Let's fix your base, backlift, and wrist work to build a foundation that actually lasts.

Many people think six-hitting is all about the bottom hand. That's a myth. Here, I explain how a dominant top hand, combined with full arm extension and weight transfer, allows you to hit long, straight sixes with more control and less risk.

Struggling with your backlift? Here is one solution. I am demonstrating how to use the top hand to lift the bat correctly, ensuring the bottom hand stays relaxed and only provides direction. This small change can fix your bat flow and improve your timing.

Correcting the backlift is fundamental. I am showing this young player how to lift the bat with his top hand, keeping the bottom hand light. This prevents the bat from coming around his pads and ensures a straight downswing.

The flick shot is about timing and wrist work, not brute force. The key is to let the top hand guide the bat and use the bottom hand to roll the wrists at the point of impact. Right execution matters.

Years will go by, but the classic cover drive will never be replaced. It is the purest shot in cricket, a perfect blend of footwork, balance, and timing.

This is the first part of our breakdown on range hitting. It all starts with a stable, balanced stance and precise wrist work. Control from your bottom hand is key to getting the elevation you need.

The second step to powerful range hitting is generating bat speed through a high backlift and a smooth downswing. This is where you create the momentum, which is then transferred into the shot.

The final element of range hitting is timing over muscle power. A fast bat speed and a complete follow-through ensure that you connect with the ball at the perfect moment to send it over the ropes.

About Batting Technique Masterclass

Most academies will let you keep swinging until you get tired, but that just reinforces bad habits. In my sessions, we stop the game to analyze your backlift and top-hand dominance using frame-by-frame video feedback. If your bat path is inefficient, you will never find consistency, no matter how much you gym. We fix the mechanics first, then we build the power.

The Foundation of a Great Batter

Cricket is a game of skill, not just brute force. I see too many young players focusing on six-hitting before they can even defend a straight ball. That is a mistake. My coaching is built on the principle of 'purity'—if your basics are strong, the runs will come.

My Technical Process

When you come to Croire Cricket Club, we don't do mass drills where you get lost in the crowd. Everything is about the 1-on-1 experience:

  • Frame-by-Frame Analysis: I use Silicon Coach software to break down your stance and swing. We look at your alignment, your head position, and your weight transfer. You see exactly where the leakage happens.
  • Top Hand Dominance: This is crucial. Most students struggle because the bottom hand takes over too early. We train your top hand to guide the bat through the line of the ball, which gives you control and range.
  • The Sidearm Advantage: You need to face quality pace to improve. My sidearm specialist mimics high-level bowling (120-135 kmph), giving you the volume and intensity you need to test your technique under pressure.

Training for the Long Run

Whether you are a kid in our Pre-Academy or an U-19 player prepping for state trials, my goal is the same: to build a batter who can read the pitch and handle any situation. We work on turf wickets to get that true bounce and carry you won't find on poor surfaces. We focus on match simulation—using a whiteboard to plan your innings and mental conditioning to keep you calm when the pressure is on.

If you are serious about becoming a complete cricketer and want to cut out the bad habits, book a technical session with me. Let’s get to work.
