Our Cricket Coaching Philosophy: Building Thinking Players
Cricket is more than just technique. We focus on mindset, discipline, and game awareness to help you think for yourself on the field.
Demonstrations are a powerful teaching tool. They engage players, spark curiosity, and make complex techniques easier to understand and remember. Here, I am breaking down the fundamentals before a session begins.
It's not what I know as a coach that matters, it's what my players learn and can execute on their own. Our process involves learning, revision through demonstrations, execution, and reflection through feedback sessions to create independent, thinking cricketers.
Here, I am explaining the nuances of the bat pickup and downswing. A consistent pickup is key, but the downswing must adapt to the pitch, the bowler's pace, and the conditions. We teach players to assess and adapt.
Life will test you, and things won't always go to plan. I always tell my players to trust the process and keep working hard. We train when others rest, pushing our limits to build not just skill, but also unwavering dedication.
"Itni mehnat karo ki..." Work so hard that it becomes a part of you. This is the message we instill in our young players. The grind in the nets is where you build the resilience to handle anything the game throws at you.
My father used to say, 'हे देवाने दिलेली गिफ्ट आहे' (This is a God's gift). I teach my players to never take their talent for granted. This is 10-year-old Jiaan, who has worked incredibly hard to develop his batting over the last year.
I tell every player: be so good that the team cannot be made without you. It's not about just getting selected; it's about becoming indispensable. This requires a combination of skill, a great mindset, and the right temperament.
About this collection
Forget talent alone. During our sessions in Dombivli and Dadar, we don't just correct your backlift; we challenge your decision-making. You will face match-simulation drills designed to test how you handle pressure—because knowing why you play a shot is just as important as the shot itself.
At Cricket Explained, our coaching philosophy is built on one core belief: talent is overrated, but a strong, thinking mind is invaluable. We move beyond simple repetition to focus on the 'Why' behind every drill. Whether it is a batting masterclass or specialized bowling training, we want you to understand the game, not just memorize its rules.
How We Build Thinking Players
- Match Simulation: We put you in real scenarios—chasing T20 targets or building an innings in a days-format game. This teaches you to handle the heat of a real match before you even step onto the pitch.
- The Mental Game: We don't just talk about shots. We use dedicated mental conditioning to help players handle both wins and losses. We teach you to stay grounded when you win and stay focused when things don't go to plan.
- Adaptive Technique: A batting grip or bowling action that works on one pitch might fail on another. We teach you to read the wicket and adapt your style accordingly.
Our Training Environment
We train at Dadar and Dombivli with facilities that include outdoor pitches, night lights, and indoor nets. We encourage students to put in the hard work—'itni mehnat karo'—so that mental toughness becomes a reflex, not an effort. We coach boys and girls, from foundational levels to professional-level tournament preparation. If you have the passion to work for it, we have the space and the guidance to help you grow.
