Motion & Animation Illustrations
I bring static illustrations to life, using motion to add a meditative, surreal layer to my storytelling.
A showcase of three animated motion book covers I created for Ray Bradbury's short stories: 'There Will Come Soft Rains,' 'Calling Mexico,' and 'The Long Rain.'
The animated cover for 'There Will Come Soft Rains,' featuring surreal, organic forms in constant, subtle motion.
The motion cover for 'Calling Mexico,' which uses a looping, infinite zoom effect through surreal architecture to create a sense of dislocation and connection.
The animated cover for 'The Long Rain,' with floating faces and a constant downpour, capturing the story's melancholic and immersive atmosphere.

About Motion & Animation
I approach animation as an extension of my illustration, using tools like After Effects to create subtle, organic loops rather than heavy, distracting motion graphics. When you commission a piece—whether it is an animated book cover or a digital social asset—I focus on the rhythm and atmospheric quality of the movement, ensuring the animation feels hand-drawn and deeply aligned with the narrative tone of the static artwork.
My motion work is built on the same foundations as my sketching: exploring the surreal, the liminal, and the introspective. I believe animation shouldn't just be an effect; it should serve the story. This is why I specialize in creating looping, meditative visuals that ground the viewer in a specific mood.
How I Integrate Motion
- Animated Book & Album Covers: I take narrative-driven cover art and apply motion to key elements—floating faces, shifting environments, or morphing type—to capture the listener's or reader's attention instantly.
- Editorial Motion Graphics: For online publications or web headers, I create bespoke, short-form animations that visualize complex metaphors, turning static concepts into living, breathing images.
- Atmospheric Loops: I love creating GIFs and motion posters that act as 'emotional ecosystems,' such as my 'Femme-scape' series, where the environment itself feels alive and shifting.
My Process
My workflow is collaborative and iterative. We start with the core illustration—what the scene represents and the emotion it needs to convey. Once the static visual is locked, we look at the 'rhythm' of the motion. Does the rain need to fall in a specific pattern? Should the letterforms morph or drift?
I share progress during the animation phase to ensure the movement matches your vision. The final delivery includes high-resolution, loop-ready files suitable for social media, streaming platforms, or digital display. Whether you need a short, five-second loop to anchor a landing page or a full-sequence animated cover, I focus on detail and fluidity.
