About Book Recommendations & Reviews
Picking the right book for a child is not about following the bestseller list. It is about matching the book to their current spark, whether they are obsessing over dinosaur facts or asking why the moon changes shape. In my sessions, we do not just read. We analyze. My students review these books to tell you honestly if a title is worth your shelf space, not just a marketing blurb.
Building a reading habit starts at home, but finding the right gateway book is half the battle. Parents often ask me, 'Ruchika, what should I start with?' My answer is always the same: pick what makes them curious.
Why Book Reviews Matter
In our classes, we turn book reading into an active discussion. When a 9-year-old reviews a book about space or a biography of Sachin Tendulkar, they are not just summarizing a plot. They are learning to form an opinion, evaluate information, and communicate their thoughts clearly. These reviews are here to help you see through the eyes of a child, not a critic.
What We Recommend
We focus on a mix of genres that encourage critical thinking and empathy:
- Indian Mythology: From Ramayan and Mahabharat stories to pop-up Ganesha books, we use these to introduce values and culture.
- Science & Curiosity: Encyclopedias that answer the 'why' and 'how' of the universe, helping parents handle those endless inquisitive questions.
- Early Literacy: Titles by authors like Julia Donaldson, which use rhythm and rhyme to make early reading feel like play rather than a chore.
