Special Needs Animal Care and Passive Adoption
Our resident heroes live with permanent disabilities, but they thrive on resilience. You can provide them with a life of comfort and dignity through passive adoption.
Ramu came to us with a severe spinal injury that left his forelegs immobile. Despite the odds, he inspires us daily with his quiet resilience and has adapted beautifully to life at the shelter.
Kutty was born blind on the streets. At our shelter, she has learned to navigate her world with confidence and joy, reminding us that love is not about what you see, but how you feel.
Sunday showers for Peanut. This special two-legged boy loves his bath time. He is one of our permanent residents and a favorite among volunteers.
MJ is a distemper survivor, which has left him with a neurological condition causing involuntary twitches. He doesn't let it stop him from enjoying life and marches to the beat of his own drum.
This Diwali, we honor our Dogs of Determination. These are our special needs residents, each a symbol of unbelievable grit. You can sponsor a meal in their name to celebrate their unbeatable spirit.
About this collection
Passive adoption is our way of ensuring that animals who cannot be released or adopted due to permanent disabilities, like spinal injuries or blindness, still have a loving, lifelong home. When you sponsor a resident, your contribution goes directly toward the specialized diet, physical therapy, and ongoing medical care they need to live with dignity right here at our Yelahanka shelter.
For many of our residents, the shelter is not a temporary stop, but a forever home. These animals arrive as trauma survivors—hit-and-run victims, distemper survivors, or abandoned seniors who cannot fend for themselves on the streets.
Why Passive Adoption Matters
Our medical team works tirelessly to stabilize them, but the reality is that many will always require assistance. A blind dog like Kutty or a spinal-injury survivor like Ramu needs more than just a roof. They need specialized bedding, hydrotherapy, mobility support, and often long-term medication.
How Your Sponsorship Helps
When you commit to a monthly subscription, you are directly funding the specific needs of an animal who would otherwise be left behind. This isn't a general donation; it's a partnership between you and a specific resident.
- Medical Stability: Covers the cost of daily pain management, supplements, and specialized wound care.
- Dietary Needs: Ensures that special needs animals receive the specific, nutritious meals recommended by our vets.
- Quality of Life: Funds the equipment that makes their movement easier, like wheelchairs or non-slip flooring.
We invite you to visit our Yelahanka facility, meet these incredible spirits, and understand the difference that consistent support makes. Whether you choose to sponsor a single resident or contribute to our shelter-wide feeding program, your support keeps our doors open for the animals who have nowhere else to go.
