The Handover: I Train You, Not Just Your Dog

Training doesn't end when the dog leaves my facility. My handover sessions are where I teach you the commands, mechanics, and mindset to keep your dog sharp and disciplined long after they go home.

Rustam's handover sessions have begun. For hyper dogs, teaching an automatic sit during recalls is crucial to prevent jumping. Here I am showing his owner how to execute the command effectively.

This is a clip from a handover session where I am teaching an owner how to give a clear "no" command. A correction doesn't mean being harsh; with the right conditioning, even a small jerk on the leash is enough.

Pet dog training needs to work for the owners. Here, King the Labrador is practicing a down-stay and recall with a staff member of his family. My goal is to make sure everyone who handles the dog has control.

This is a mid-training handover session with Theo's owner. I focus on observing the owner's body language and their bond with the dog, and I coach them to ensure the dog follows their instructions, not just mine.

A glimpse of how our training sessions work. As long as the family is ready to participate, I am there to help make sure everyone, including staff members, has good control over the dog. Here is King the Labrador working with his family.

A well-trained dog should perform just as well with their owner as they do with the trainer. Here is Google the American Bully showing off his loose leash walking skills with his owner during his first handover session.

About The Handover: I Train You, Not Just Your Dog

When I teach a 'no' command, I do not just give you a word to shout. I show you how to pair the sound—what I call 'neh'—with a specific, timed jerk on the leash to stop a behavior in its tracks. It is about building muscle memory for both you and your dog, so you stop relying on hope and start relying on clear communication.

Why the Handover is Non-Negotiable

Most training fails not because the dog forgot the commands, but because the owner never learned how to enforce them. In my board and train programs, I work with dogs to build drive and structure, but the real test is whether they listen to you when they get home. That is why I include two mandatory handover sessions at my Sector 62 facility in Gurugram.

What You Will Actually Learn

These sessions are not just about watching me work. I observe your body language, your leash handling, and the bond you currently share. I coach you through:

  • Leash Mechanics: Learning how to give corrections without being harsh or aggressive.
  • Marker Training: Using precise verbal cues so your dog understands exactly what you want.
  • Trigger Management: How to remain calm and neutral when your dog encounters distractions or reactivity triggers.
  • Command Consistency: Ensuring that your 'stay' and 'come' commands hold the same authority as mine.

The Result

By the time we finish, you will know how to handle your dog's reactivity, manage their impulse control, and maintain the obedience work they have learned. Whether you are dealing with a working-line German Shepherd or an anxious Indie, you walk away with the practical tools to lead your pack.
