Mastering Cricket Technique and Fundamentals
Cricket isn't about style—it's about the mechanics. I work on your hip rotation, weight transfer, and release points until the movement becomes muscle memory.
Correcting the transfer of weight is crucial for any bowler. I am physically demonstrating to this young player how to land his front foot and use his body momentum effectively.
I use simple analogies to explain complex mechanics. Here, I am explaining the 'pro hop' to bowler Rahul Sharma, comparing it to kicking a football to help him understand how to generate forward momentum.
Here I am explaining to Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma how flexing and straightening the leg at the point of delivery generates power. It is about making your body work for you automatically.
A bowler's run-up and jump must be precise. I am instructing a young spinner on the exact point to start his jump to ensure he lands correctly at the crease and maintains his rhythm.
About Drilling Down the Fundamentals
I don't just tell you to hold your bat or ball; I fix the biomechanics. Whether it's correcting your 'pro hop' or ensuring your front leg is planted before delivery, we strip your game back to its core. If your hip rotation is off, your power transfer is wasted, and we will drill that movement until it is automatic.
The BPCA Coaching Method
At Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy, we believe in the philosophy that the body follows the technique. If your mechanics are flawed, no amount of natural talent will fix the inconsistency in your game. My job is to break down your bowling action or batting stance until we find the root cause of the error.
We don't do 'general' coaching. Whether you are struggling with your weight transfer during a drive or having trouble finding rhythm in your bowling run-up, we address it with targeted drills. We use specific training aids, such as hanging balls for shot control, to ensure you are repeating the right movement hundreds of times until it sticks.
Focusing on the Basics
- For Bowlers: We scrutinize the action, from the gather to the point of delivery. If you aren't flexing at the right moment, you aren't generating power. We correct the front foot plant and the follow-through so your body works for you, not against you.
- For Batsmen: It is all about the basics. Grip, stance, and balance. We focus on the 'pro hop' and ensure you are positioned to attack the ball, not wait for it. We train on matting and turf wickets to give you a realistic feel of the game.
Why Technique Matters
When you are under pressure in a match, your mind gets clouded. That is when your body takes over. If you haven't trained your muscle memory through intense, repetitive drills, your body will default to bad habits. That is why I insist on disciplined, high-repetition practice sessions. You come here to sweat, to correct, and to build a repeatable, match-trusted technique. We train in Bengaluru across various age groups, from U-12 to U-19, and the expectations for discipline remain the same regardless of age.
