Hand-Sculpted 3D and Textured Wall Art
Transform flat walls into tactile experiences. I use putty, gold leaf, and metallic finishes to create designs that aren't just seen, but felt.
For this piece, I tried something different by using wall putty to create a heavily textured abstract art. The colorful strokes on the raised, swirling pattern create a unique and modern design.
This decorative wall art features a central medallion made with gold leaf and texture. The concentric circles create a simple yet luxurious focal point, perfect for a sophisticated dining area.
This is a large-scale relief mural I created for an exterior wall in Gurugram. The design, featuring a peacock feather and a pot, is sculpted directly onto the wall, giving it a permanent, three-dimensional quality.
About 3D & Textured Wall Art
The secret to these designs is the patience involved in the drying process. Unlike standard painting, a 3D relief project requires a multi-stage approach, often taking 5 to 8 days to complete. I apply layers of wall putty and POP to get that sculptural depth, then wait 24 to 48 hours for proper curing between layers. It is a slow, messy process involving sanding and hand-finishing, but it is the only way to get that permanent, textured look you see in the gallery.
How I Create 3D Art
When you want your wall to literally pop, standard paint is not enough. I work with Plaster of Paris (POP) and premium wall putty to build textures that range from 5mm to 20mm in depth. This is sculpting on a vertical surface.
The Process
- Concept & Sketch: We finalize the design, whether it is an organic floral pattern, geometric shapes, or traditional mud-work styles.
- Sculpting: I hand-sculpt the relief directly onto the wall. This is where the 3D form takes shape.
- Curing: This is the most critical step. I ensure mandatory drying time between layers to prevent cracks later. Humidity in Delhi NCR can affect this, so I plan accordingly.
- Finishing: Once the structure is hard, I sand it to a porcelain-like smoothness or leave it rustic, depending on the vibe you want. Finally, I apply metallic paints, gold leaf, or traditional colors to highlight the textures.
Common Surfaces & Applications I have done this on interior feature walls, dining room focal points, and even exterior walls that need a permanent decorative element.
- Metallic Finishes: Gold, copper, or bronze leafing can turn a simple relief into a luxury piece.
- Maintenance: My 3D art is designed to be permanent. I use high-grade bonding agents to ensure the sculpture stays put, and I provide comprehensive floor covering during the work so your home stays clean.
If you have a blank wall that feels too empty, tell me about it. We can create something that changes with the light in your room throughout the day.
