Move Like an Athlete: Parkour and Freerunning
Tired of repetitive gym routines? We focus on moving your body through space with control, creativity, and confidence. Whether you want to master a vault or stick your first flip, we build the foundation to get you there safely.
Flips are sexy, but parkour is sexier. This is a dive kong vault, a fundamental parkour move for clearing obstacles efficiently. It’s all about power, precision, and flow.
A J-step gainer from the archives. This is a type of backflip that takes off from one foot, and it’s a super fun skill to learn on a soft surface like the trampoline.
Leaping over my students is a fun way to practice precision and trust. This is an aerial, or a no-handed cartwheel, a classic tricking and gymnastics move.
A few flips with the monster, Simonster. His back layout is flawless, and that’s a goal of mine. Training with someone at his level is incredibly inspiring.
More flips, this time with the humble beast Sondre Berg. It’s amazing to share a space and move with athletes I’ve looked up to for so long.
Some clips from 2018, working on tricking skills like the butterfly kick and the 540 kick. These movements build incredible body awareness and explosive power.
About Move Like an Athlete
You've likely seen the flips online, but here is the reality: they are built on thousands of boring, repetitive landings. At our HSR Layout studio, we don't just teach the jump; we teach the landing. We use foam pits and crash mats to remove the fear factor, allowing you to focus entirely on your technique rather than the impact. It is about building confidence first, then adding speed.
If you have been wanting to try parkour or freerunning but feel intimidated by the 'wild' jumps you see on social media, you are in the right place. We strip away the aesthetic to focus on what actually works: precision, flow, and efficiency.
The Faktory Environment
This isn't a typical gym. We built our space to support the progression of movement. We have specific tools designed for safety and learning:
- The Foam Pit: Essential for removing the fear of falling while you practice flips or vaults.
- Precision Blocks & Vault Boxes: For building the technical accuracy needed for parkour.
- Lache Bars: To develop the upper body strength required for swinging and flow.
Why Technique Comes First
Whether you are working on a dive kong, a basic vault, or a J-step gainer, the process is always the same. We focus on progressions. You don't need to be fit to start; you get fit while you learn. We see people of all ages and levels come in, and my approach is always the same: yaru madabahudu (anyone can do it). You just need to show up and stay patient.
We train in small groups where the energy is high and everyone is hyped to see each other get better. It doesn't matter if you are failing a move or finally nailing it—as long as you are moving, you are winning. If you are ready to stop just watching and start doing, let's get to work.
Delson Joy D'Souza
I started obsessing over martial arts movies as a kid, and today I help others find that same freedom in their own bodies. At the Faktory, we don't care if you're a beginner or an athlete—we care that you show up and move. My goal is to get you comfortable with your body, whether that is finally nailing a handstand or just moving more efficiently.
