Real Stories: How Our Advanced Writing Workshops Change Lives
Curious about what happens when literary craft meets clinical psychology? Our alumni share how this deep-dive journey transformed their writing—and their perspective on human nature.
Rahul explains how the course helped him understand character motivation on a new level, exploring the "edge" where real growth and storytelling happen. His experience shows how these lessons apply to both fiction and real life.
"A rite of passage for you to become a good writer." Pravin shares how the workshop provides the conscious tools to access the psychological insight every writer needs, making it a liberating and essential experience.
Soumini describes the workshop as a journey of self-discovery. She speaks about learning deep concepts like power, rank, and psychological archetypes through role-plays and connecting them back to crafting soulful characters.
Bhanu talks about his experience diving deeper into themes and characters after our BWW Classic course. He highlights the open, communicative atmosphere we create to explore complex ideas from Jungian psychology.
Anjini shares her excitement about gaining the psychological tools to understand why some stories work and others don't. This course gives you the language and insight to articulate and improve your creative writing craft.
"Every session felt like therapy, like a life lesson." Suma explains how the workshop went far beyond her expectations, providing a set of tools that made her a more discerning reader and a more self-aware individual.
Prateek details how we use practical exercises like role-plays and family constellations to understand human behavior. He feels better equipped to create lifelike, dynamic characters in his own writing.
About Hear From Our Writers
This is not your typical creative writing course. Because we co-facilitate with a clinical psychotherapist, we swap standard lectures for Jungian archetypes and psychodrama role-plays. You will not just write characters; you will understand exactly why they behave the way they do, helping you move past the page to create deeply authentic, soul-driven narratives.
If you have already done our BWW Classic workshop and find yourself craving more substance, this advanced series is where you go to get gritty. We spend five weeks in Indiranagar doing the hard work of characterization, using the lens of psychology to decode human behavior.
Why Psychology Matters in Fiction
We believe stories fall flat when characters feel like puppets. By applying Jungian concepts like the 'Collective Unconscious' and the 'Shadow Self,' we help you understand the internal systems that dictate human action. You learn to apply these tools to your manuscripts, turning static character arcs into dynamic, believable journeys.
What Happens in the Room
Our sessions are intense, intimate, and often feel like a group therapy session—in the best way possible. We use:
- Psychodrama role-plays: To physically experience how power dynamics shift in relationships.
- Power and Rank analysis: To understand why your protagonist is failing to connect.
- Deep critique: Focusing on the emotional core of your scenes rather than just the mechanics of plotting.
This is a space for BWW alumni who are ready to stop writing 'in a vacuum.' You will join a cohort of writers who are as serious about the craft as you are, learning to identify what makes a story stick, and more importantly, how to use that knowledge to bring your own characters to life.
