A Peek Inside Our Writing Workshops
Step into our Sunday sessions where we ditch the boring lectures for raw, honest discussions and role-play. We help you get deep inside your characters' heads.
Our 'Hamlets' batch, completely absorbed in a three-hour session of role-play and discussion. This is where we unpack complex character motivations and apply psychological theories directly to the craft of writing.
A moment of intense focus during a session. You can see the participants listening and learning from Kalpana, our guest facilitator, as we explore the nuances of human psychology in storytelling.
Even our breaks are filled with energy and continued discussion. This is the 'Hamlet' batch, a group of writers committed to learning, unlearning, and unlocking their creative consciousness together.
A typical scene from our workshop: writers deeply engaged in their notes during a session. These are not passive lectures; they are active, participatory experiences where everyone contributes.
A wide view of our last class with the 'Hamlets'. This is a group of some of the keenest minds in Bangalore, all coming together in a self-aware, kind, and collaborative writing environment.
You can feel the energy in the room during this session with our 'Leopards' batch. This is what happens when people open their hearts and minds, put aside comfort zones, and just learn and share.
Our 'Leopards' batch in session. We combine lectures and discussions to create a dynamic learning environment where writers can explore new ideas and apply them to their work.
A group selfie with our 'Panthers' batch after a fantastic first session. The energy and speed with which this group dove into the material was incredible.
A glimpse into a BWW Short Story Community discussion at Atta Galatta. We use powerful stories like Shirley Jackson's 'The Lottery' to unpack complex themes and understand how ideology shapes characters and societies.
The full circle of our short story discussion group. This format encourages open dialogue and allows us to explore difficult topics through the safe and insightful lens of literature.
About Inside the Workshop
We meet at Bridge Work365 in Indiranagar every Sunday for five weeks. This isn't a sit-and-listen class; you'll spend three hours each session in active role-play alongside a clinical psychotherapist, testing the psychological reality of your characters before you ever write a single line of dialogue.
What Happens Inside
When we say we do things differently, we mean it. You won't find a room full of people silently staring at laptops. You will find writers sitting in a circle, coffee in hand, dissecting the 'why' behind their characters' choices. We believe that if you want to write fiction that resonates, you need to understand the messiness of human behavior first.
The Psychology and Narrative Mix
We collaborate with Kalpana Tanwar, a clinical psychotherapist, to bring a layer of depth to your writing that most workshops miss. We move beyond basic plot points and into the realm of Jungian archetypes and the 'Shadow Self.' In our sessions, we explore how power dynamics shift in relationships and use psychodrama role-play exercises to help you see where your protagonist's arc is failing or flourishing.
Why the Sunday Routine Matters
Writing is usually a lonely business, but at BWW, we make it a collective effort. By meeting every Sunday for 15 hours total over five weeks, we create a rhythm of accountability. You don't just learn a concept; you apply it, get critiqued by peers who care, and refine it the very next week. It is intense, it is demanding, and it is the fastest way to stop being a serial first-drafter and start finishing stories that have real soul.
Bhumika Anand
I'm Bhumika, and I founded BWW to fix the lonely business of writing. My team and I focus on building a community where your stories and your personal growth matter just as much as your craft. We are all about helping you find your tribe.
