I didn't go to art school, but YouTube became my teacher. This is my story of healing through sketches, finding calm in Bangalore, and why I keep painting every single day.

I made a choice to stay busy with what I love, so there is no time for sadness. For me, painting and sketching is the best therapy. This video is a reminder that immersing yourself in creativity is a powerful way to heal.

I've been there, stuck in a creative rut for weeks or months. This post is about how I overcame my art block, not by forcing it, but by being gentle with myself and rediscovering the joy in the process.

The first step to breaking my art block was to stop forcing it. I had to remind myself that art is supposed to feel good, not stressful. I stepped back, let myself breathe, and the creativity eventually returned.

People ask me what healed me. The answer is simple: Art. Art. Art. It has been my constant companion, my way of understanding the world, and my path back to happiness.

Life becomes genuinely happier when you stop caring so much about others' opinions. For me, happiness is found in the little things, like listening to nature while I paint and embracing my own journey.

A reflection on my year. It was a rollercoaster of heartbreak and breakthroughs, but art was my anchor. From creating products to finding joy in my own company, every brushstroke was a step toward healing.

Looking forward to a new year of art. I'm promising myself to be bolder, to create from the heart, and to share the journey with all of you. Thank you for being here with me.

About The Artist's Journey

I am a self-taught artist, which means my process isn't perfect, it is just honest. Whether I am painting in Cubbon Park or struggling with a blank page in my studio, art is my therapy for burnout and creative blocks. If you have ever felt stuck or just needed an outlet that is not a screen, I hope my story shows you that you do not need an art degree to start making something that feels real.

My journey with art didn't start in a fancy classroom. It started with a laptop, a YouTube tab, and a lot of messy practice. Coming from Kerala to Bangalore, I found that the city’s pace can be overwhelming, so I started carrying my sketchbook everywhere. This cluster is a look into that practice.

Why I Paint Outdoors

Plein air sketching is my quiet space in the chaos. When I sit at Cubbon Park or near a busy brewery, I am not trying to make a museum-quality piece. I am trying to capture the light, the people, and the mood. If you see me out there with my watercolors, feel free to say hello. I love talking to people who are curious about the process.

Overcoming the 'Creative Block'

I get messages often asking how I stay consistent. The truth is, I don't. I have weeks where I don't draw a single thing. I used to force myself to create, but I learned that art is supposed to feel good, not like a chore. If you are feeling blocked, my best advice is to step back. Don't force the result. Just doodle, play with colors, and let the pressure go.

My Philosophy

I believe art is for everyone. It is not an exclusive club for the talented or the trained. It is a way to process life. Whether it is a quick portrait sketch of a stranger or a detailed digital piece, every brushstroke is a small win. If you want to know more about how I started or want to grab a coffee and sketch, reach out. Let's paint.

I am Basit. I went from feeling stuck to finding my voice through watercolor and plein air sketching. My work is less about perfection and more about capturing the quiet, messy moments in a busy city like Bangalore.
