About Live Art & Event Sketching
Where I Find My Inspiration
Art is kinda my lifeline. I never went to fancy art school, just picked up tricks from YouTube and Insta. You know, learning from real artists online. What gets me going? Sunsets in Tanur, crazy BLR traffic, chai stalls... I see stories everywhere, and my sketchbook comes along for the ride.
What I Actually Do
I show up at your spot - could be a cafe, house party, or festival - and sketch what’s happening, live. It’s not just snapping pics. I try turning that exact moment into a hand-drawn memory. I’m happiest capturing the vibe, whether it’s a steaming ramen bowl or the madness at a local mela. People call it “on-location art sketching” or “live event illustration”, but for me it’s just catching the feeling on paper.
Live Portraits & Crowd Energy
Quick sketches of guests? Absolutely. Some folks get shy, some burst out laughing - either way, these real-time portrait drawings always spark cool interactions. Seeing someone’s reaction to their portrait is honestly the best part.
My Tools
Depending on your scene, I switch between pen and ink, watercolors, gouache, even the iPad. I’ll paint outdoors whenever I can - “en plein air”, we call it. It’s messy, sometimes the light is tricky, sometimes I mess up, but every sketch is its own adventure.
Sketching Chalein?
Based in Bengaluru, but I travel wherever the art takes me. If you want a memory that’s more than just a photo, let’s make it happen. Kaantha njnanum varaam (darling, I’ll also come).

My Story
Hey, I’m Basit. Kerala roots, now in Bangalore, chasing art wherever I go. Didn’t get to do fancy art school – YouTube was my guru. I sucked at first, but kept sketching, kept messing up, kept going. Sunsets at Kozhikode, crowded flower markets, my own messy studio – all end up in my sketchbook. I travel, I paint, I heal, I stumble. Art is how I find my quiet and connect with folks. That’s me, in a nutshell.
