About Bespoke Furniture & Cabinetry
When we approach cabinetry, we look beyond the surface. We use traditional joinery like mortise and tenon rather than modern screws, which keeps the furniture durable and allows for future repairs. If you choose reclaimed teak or our Lantana-based designs, expect a piece that carries its own history and develops a rich patina over time, rather than a factory-finished product that degrades within years.
Our approach to interior storage and furniture starts with the provenance of the material. Whether we are salvaging old Burma teak from demolition yards or harvesting invasive Lantana camara from forest fringes, we treat the raw material as the primary design driver.
Our Material Philosophy
- Reclaimed Teak: We strip, plane, and treat salvaged wood to reveal original grain, often relying on hand-rubbed oil finishes like linseed or beeswax instead of polyurethane. This allows the wood to breathe and age naturally.
- Lantana Initiative: We transform an invasive weed into a structural resource. This is a deliberate intervention that supports biodiversity and provides livelihoods for artisans. It results in furniture with organic lines and textures you will not find in mass-produced catalogues.
- Oxide and Masonry: For built-in seating or counters, we utilize traditional oxide finishes. These are hand-troweled and polished, creating a seamless, cool-to-touch surface that is both stain-resistant and structurally permanent.
The Process
Design is a dialogue. We begin by understanding the architectural context of your home. A wardrobe should not just occupy space; it should resolve the functional constraints of the room. We favor traditional joinery because it is inherently stronger than relying on metal hardware that eventually loosens. By opting for breathable finishes and local stone, we create custom interiors that are healthier, more durable, and deeply connected to their environment. If you are looking for custom carpentry that values craft over speed, our studio is the right place to start.
