Modern Tech & Design Photography for High-End Brands
I turn functional gadgets into sleek, futuristic visuals. By blending moody lighting with precise framing, I highlight the form, texture, and intelligence behind your product.
The Phynart tech superheroes. Capturing this group shot of smart locks was a great challenge, blending glass, metal, and matte finishes into one cohesive image. The gradient gray background gives it a sophisticated, high-tech feel.
A clean example of product plus utility. This shot shows the Phynart smart lock installed on a door, instantly communicating its purpose. The lighting creates a sleek gradient along the lock's surface.
A hero shot of the Phynart smart lock, placed on geometric blocks. The dark, moody lighting with the glowing blue fingerprint sensor gives it a futuristic and secure look.
Another utility shot of a different Phynart lock model. The angle highlights the handle's design and the keypad, showing the product from a practical, user-focused perspective.
This composition for the Phynart smart lock uses dark blocks to create a pedestal, making the product look important and robust. The lighting is focused on highlighting the form and the glowing blue accents.
Unlocking potential with dynamic photography. This floating, angled shot of a Phynart smart lock gives it a sense of motion and technology, as if it's assembling itself in mid-air.
A simple, top-down shot of the Phynart smart doorbell. The white marble background gives it a clean, modern, and premium feel, while the glowing blue button draws the eye.
This shot for Phynart shows their smart plugs in a lifestyle context. The flat lay with a laptop and plant makes the technology feel like a natural part of a modern, organized workspace.
A creative composition for a Phynart smart device. The play of light and shadow from the leaves adds an organic, gentle touch to a piece of technology, making it feel more at home.
Some products are just interesting to shoot. This tech gadget has a great mix of metal, grays, and different ports. I used graded lighting to highlight its form and give the brushed metal a beautiful sheen.
About Modern Tech & Design
Photographing tech is not just about placing a gadget on a table. It is about total control over reflections, especially when dealing with the combination of glass, matte plastic, and brushed metal surfaces. I use gradient lighting and deep shadows to make these products feel futuristic and premium, ensuring the utility shines through without unwanted glare.
When I shoot tech, my goal is to make the product look as smart as it functions. A smart lock or a high-end coffee machine is often just a collection of materials—metal, glass, and circuitry—until you apply the right lighting.
My studio process starts with understanding the device’s interface. Is it a touch screen that needs to glow? A brushed metal port that needs a sharp edge light? I use Elinchrom lighting to sculpt these shapes, often shooting tethered so you can see the magic happen on the monitor in real time.
I treat gadgets like portraits. Whether I am capturing a hero shot of a smart home device or a flat-lay of tech accessories for a workspace, I focus on:
- Surface Texture: Balancing the sheen on polished metal against the softness of matte finishes.
- Indicator Lights: Capturing the glow of LEDs without blowing out the highlights.
- Utility Context: Showing how the product fits into a modern life, rather than just floating it on a white background.
I shoot exclusively on the Hasselblad X2D. That 100MP resolution means you can crop into the smallest detail—a button, a logo, or a texture—and it stays crisp. No shortcuts, just a obsession with getting the light perfect before I even click the shutter.
Ashish Gurbani
I approach tech photography as a portrait session. Whether it's a smart lock or a coffee machine, I focus on the textures—brushed metal, glowing indicators, and matte finishes—to make the product feel intuitive and powerful.
