Capturing the soul of a spirit in a single frame. From edge-lit silhouettes to high-speed pours, this is how I turn bottles into liquid gold.

For Monarch brandy, we built a world of strategy and royalty. This conceptual shot places the bottle as the king on a chessboard, surrounded by custom pieces. It’s about creating a narrative of power and legacy, captured entirely in-camera.

Walking in the dark. This minimalist shot of Johnnie Walker uses only edge lighting to trace the iconic bottle's silhouette. The focus is entirely on the striding man logo, which appears to float in the darkness, creating a powerful and mysterious image.

A wider view of the minimalist Johnnie Walker concept. Here, you see the full silhouette of the bottle, defined by a thin, golden line of light. It's a testament to how much can be said with very little, focusing on shape and brand identity.

The Glenfiddich "Green Lantern" shot. I wanted to create a perfect marriage between the darkness and the bottle's signature green glow. The highlight on the golden deer logo makes it feel animated, bringing the brand's icon to life.

This Port Charlotte shot took two days of lighting and six different set designs to perfect. The final image uses a single sliver of light to mimic a sunbeam cutting through a dark, moody room, highlighting the bottle's green glass and embossed text.

A conceptual shot playing with the form of the Port Charlotte bottle. By using a flexible mirror, I created this "unfurling" effect, as if the bottle is melting or flowing. It’s a creative experiment in pure photography, no digital manipulation.

Another view of the "flowing" Port Charlotte bottle concept. This abstract approach turns a simple product into a piece of art, focusing on shape, reflection, and the beautiful olive green of the glass.

I always wanted to capture a pour from this top-down perspective. It’s much harder than it looks! This shot for Monarch brandy freezes the liquid in mid-air, showing the beautiful chaos and golden color as it splashes into the glass.

A wider angle of the top-down pour for Monarch. This view includes more of the surrounding scene, with the bottle, glasses, and bar tools creating a complete story of someone preparing a drink.

A lifestyle pour shot for Monarch brandy. The hands holding the bottle add a human element, making the scene feel warm and inviting. The rich green background complements the amber liquid beautifully.

About Liquid Gold: Beverage & Spirits Photography

Shooting spirits is not just about the bottle; it is about mastering the reflections on glass and the viscosity of the liquid. I spend days on lighting setups, carefully balancing gradients and edge lights to ensure that iconic green glow or the amber clarity of the whiskey pops against the background. If you are looking to showcase your brand’s personality through your product imagery, we should chat about your specific lighting needs and liquid styling requirements.
