How I Approach Wearable Art
My process is simple: you have a garment, and I have a brush. Whether it’s an old pair of jeans you’re not ready to part with, or a plain white kurta that needs some personality for a festive occasion, I treat the fabric as a living surface. I avoid the 'perfect' machine-made look because, like life, art is better when it’s a bit raw.
The Three Ways We Can Work Together
- Minimalist Accents: Perfect for beginners or subtle style. I use eco-printing (transferring natural pigments from flowers and leaves) or small, detailed motifs on collars and cuffs. This is a soft, earthy approach.
- Signature Folk Art: This is where I lean into my love for Indian heritage. We’re talking Warli, Alpona, or deity portraits on your festive wear. I use professional-grade fabric paints mixed with mediums to keep the cloth soft, ensuring the art doesn't feel stiff or plastic-like.
- Heavy Customization: If you want a statement piece, I go all-in. I build opacity with multiple layers of paint, perfect for denim jackets or heavy festive lehengas. This includes a protective sealant top-coat to prevent cracking, so you can actually live in your clothes, not just store them away.
Practical Care
These pieces are meant to be worn, not kept behind glass. The paint is permanent, but treat it with kindness. Hand-wash your garment in cold water and always iron on the back side of the print.
