My Artistic Journey and Mural Process
A behind the scenes look at 11 years of painting, moving cities, and building a community where everyone gets to play with art.
This video is a little recap of my journey since moving to Mumbai. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions, from challenging workshops to incredibly rewarding successes, and I'm so grateful for every moment.
A snippet of my introduction at a workshop. I always tell my students that the only rule is to have fun and create a painting that they love, not what anyone else expects.
It all started with someone suggesting I try hosting just one workshop. Now, 400+ workshops later, it has become my life's passion.
Just me, behind a mic, being my goofy self. Hosting these paint parties is genuinely my happy place.
A candid moment of me checking on a participant's painting. I love interacting with everyone and helping them through their creative process.
This is the face of someone who truly loves her job. Speaking into the mic and guiding a room full of people is where I feel most alive.
A view from the back of the room during a workshop. I'm constantly moving around, making sure everyone has what they need.
About this collection
I have learned that the secret to a great mural or a successful workshop is not technical perfection, but showing up with a willingness to experiment. My process relies on that same energy. I embrace the chaos, use whatever 'jugaad' (quick fix) is needed to solve a problem on site, and make sure that at the end of the day, you have created something that actually feels like you.
When I started my journey 11 years ago, I didn't imagine I would be juggling two businesses: one where I paint and another where I teach others to find their own creative flow. Moving from the Garden City of Bangalore to the city of dreams in Mumbai was a rollercoaster. It meant starting from scratch, from hosting events where only a few people showed up to scaling up to workshops for hundreds.
My mural process is rarely as glamorous as it looks on social media. It involves a lot of math, some heavy lifting, and plenty of dust, but the thrill of seeing a 67-foot wall come alive is what keeps me going. Whether I am sketching a tropical design for a commercial space or prepping a home mural, I focus on the details that make the space feel personal.
For my workshops, the goal is simple. I don't want to run a strict art class. I want to run a space where you can drink tea or coffee, listen to music, and just make things. I guide you through the process step by step, but I also encourage you to go off-script. If you want to change the colors or paint something entirely different, I am here for it. It is about the joy of creating, not about making the perfect piece. I bring all the supplies, handle the setup, and clean up the mess, so all you have to do is show up and have fun.
