Hand-Painted Gold Leaf & Metallic Wall Murals
I create luminous, textured wall designs using real gold, silver, and copper leaf. It is not just paint; it is a careful, manual process that makes your space play with light throughout the day.
A proud moment with my 85th gold leaf wall mural. Standing next to the finished piece gives a great sense of the scale and how it can become the centerpiece of a room.
This time-lapse shows the entire journey of the gold leaf tree mural, from applying the first sheet of gold to painting the final delicate leaf. It was a labor of love, and I'm so happy with how it turned out.
For me, peace looks like this. The quiet, focused moments of adding tiny white blossoms to the branches of a gold leaf mural. These small details are what bring the entire artwork to life.
A full view of the hand-painted tree on the shimmering gold leaf background. I designed the branches to feel both delicate and expansive, filling the vertical space of the wall panel.
A close-up of the hand-painted leaves and blossoms. You can see the texture of the gold leaf beneath the acrylic paint, which gives the piece a beautiful, layered quality.
This mural on a textured rooftop wall in Bangalore was designed to cleverly conceal a door. The dancing cranes against a bold golden sun create a powerful focal point for this outdoor lounge area.
Here, I used a combination of emerald green line work and solid gold painted leaves to create a modern botanical mural. The contrast between the detailed lines and the flat, metallic gold adds a contemporary touch.
About this collection
Getting that perfect metallic glow is not about using spray cans. I apply imitation gold, silver, or copper sheets manually, one by one, to create a textured, luminous finish. It is a precise, layered process that requires a specific base coat—usually ochre or red—to really make the warmth pop before I seal it with a protective varnish so it stays bright and will not blacken over time.
The beauty of metallic art lies in how it interacts with the light in your room. Unlike standard metallic paints which can look flat, gold leafing adds a real, crinkled texture that shifts and catches the light differently as the sun moves across your space.
Why I Love This Style
For me, this work is pure meditation. It requires a steady hand and a lot of patience. Whether you want a full shimmering backdrop or delicate, hand-painted floral motifs accented with gold, the result changes the entire mood of a room. It adds that layer of warmth that standard paint just cannot replicate.
The Reality of the Process
It is not always the most glamorous work—there is usually a bit of fine metallic dust and plenty of prep work involved.
- Preparation: I start by prepping the wall surface to ensure the adhesive takes hold properly.
- Application: I transfer the metallic sheets by hand. This is where the magic happens, but it also requires me to be extremely careful with air currents and timing.
- Protection: Once the art is down, I apply a specialized spray varnish. This is non-negotiable for me, as it prevents the metal from oxidizing and turning black, keeping your mural looking beautiful for years.
If you have a specific wall in mind, let’s chat about the lighting. Gold leaf behaves very differently on a dark wall compared to a bright, sun-drenched living room. I can help you figure out which metal tone—gold, silver, or copper—will work best with your current decor.
