Whimsical Hand-Painted Murals for Kids' Spaces
Turning blank walls into imaginative wonderlands for schools, play areas, and bedrooms. I paint stories that grow with your little ones.
The before-and-after transformation of this room at Shree Kumaran's Children's Home is one of my favorites. From blank walls to a room full of doodles, it’s now a perfect space for storytelling.
Standing on a ladder in the middle of the doodle room, adding the final touches. It felt like my own childhood dream of drawing on all the walls was coming true.
The completed doodle room, with whimsical patterns covering every wall. The design was done free-hand to give it a spontaneous and playful feel.
The finished mural for a child's room, featuring a friendly bear in the ocean. The goal was to create a calm and imaginative world for them to grow up in.
A close-up of me painting the friendly bear's face. Getting the expression just right is key to making the character feel gentle and approachable.
This mural was designed around a large arched window in a school. The paint tube appears to be squeezing out an ocean of imagination, perfectly framing the view outside.
My 75th mural was this sunshine-themed room, also for a school in Bangalore. The rays of sun extend across the walls and ceiling, filling the space with warmth and positivity.
About this collection
I paint these murals free-hand, so the design flows naturally as I work. We will start with a rough sketch to agree on the vibe, but I love adding little hidden details on-site—like an extra sun or a tiny animal—that make the wall feel like it was painted specifically for your kid’s imagination.
When I paint for children, my goal is to create a space that feels like a giant, huggable storybook. Whether it is a full room covered in doodles, like the ones I did for Shree Kumaran’s Children’s Home, or a calm ocean-themed corner, I want the art to spark joy and creativity.
The Process
My process is simple and transparent. We start with a conversation about what your child loves—dinosaurs, space, forests, or just abstract colors. I create digital mockups to show you how the design fits the room's lighting and furniture. Once we are aligned, I get to the fun part. I prefer painting free-hand because it gives the lines a soft, organic feel that standard stencils or wallpapers just cannot match.
Durability and Safety
I know kids are active, and rooms get messy. I use premium, high-pigment acrylic emulsions that are durable and easy to clean. Every wall gets 2-4 coats of paint for rich color, followed by a protective clear varnish. This makes the surface wipeable, so if a crayon mark appears or dust settles, you can simply wipe it clean without damaging the art.
Why Free-Hand?
Free-hand painting is where the magic happens. It allows me to adjust the scale of characters or patterns based on the room's architecture, like working around windows or corners. It also lets me bring that same energy I had as a kid drawing on my chalkboard wall into your home. The result is a space that feels alive, playful, and completely yours.
