Breathing New Life Into Heritage Structures
We believe heritage buildings have stories to tell. By carefully restoring and adapting old structures, we create spaces that honor their past while serving the needs of the future.

About this collection
We do not just patch up old walls. When we approach an adaptive reuse project like the Solina Silk Factory, we start by understanding the original construction techniques and the site’s history. This allows us to integrate modern infrastructure—like accessibility and climate-appropriate services—without stripping away the character that makes the building special in the first place.
Adaptive reuse is about more than just keeping an old building standing; it is about finding the potential in structures that others might overlook. Whether it is a colonial-era bungalow, an industrial warehouse, or a community landmark, our role is to act as a bridge between the building's history and its contemporary purpose.
Our process begins with an in-depth site audit. We document the existing fabric—noting how light enters a room, which materials have weathered well, and where the structural strengths lie. We believe that conservation architecture should never result in a static museum piece; these spaces must remain active, breathable, and functional.
Take our work on the Solina Silk Factory in Srinagar. We saw a 22-acre industrial heritage site that was largely vacant. Instead of demolition, we proposed a comprehensive master plan to transform the factory into a vibrant artisan center. By aligning the restoration with the needs of local craftspeople, we turned an unused facility into a productive community hub. This project demanded a delicate balance: upgrading the infrastructure to meet modern safety standards while preserving the distinct architectural language of the original factory sheds.
If you have a historic property or an industrial site you are considering repurposing, the first step is a feasibility study. We look at the statutory compliance, structural integrity, and the long-term viability of the proposed new use. It is a complex but rewarding journey that turns site constraints into a unique design identity.
