My Design Philosophy and Inspirations
Architecture is more than just building walls. It is about understanding how a space makes you feel, shaped by my experiences, travels, and the art of observation.
I recently visited the Encounters exhibition at the Belfort Museum in Bruges. It was a captivating experience that reminded me that art, like meaningful encounters, doesn't come with instructions. It's a source of inspiration that I bring back into my own work.
About Inspiration & Philosophy
Design is a translation of memory. When I look at a site, I am not just seeing dimensions and sun paths. I am remembering how light hits a stone floor in a quiet museum, or the way a room feels when it is stripped down to its rawest, most honest materials. My process involves taking these intangible feelings and anchoring them into your home, ensuring that your space does not just look good, but resonates with your personal history and way of life.
The Intersection of Art and Architecture
Every project I take on begins with a conversation about what a space is meant to do for its inhabitants. I often draw inspiration from art exhibitions, the rhythm of a busy street in Mumbai, or the quietude of a heritage structure. This is not about style alone; it is about spatial identity.
My Design Methodology
- Observational Design: I spend significant time on site before a single line is drawn. I track the sun, analyze the wind, and understand the flow of the neighborhood. This ensures the building feels like it belongs to the land.
- Material Honesty: I prefer materials that age well. Wood, marble, brick, and lime plaster are staples in my work. They do not hide their nature; they reveal their history over time.
- Sustainable Living: Sustainability is not just a buzzword. It is about designing for cross-ventilation, maximizing natural light to reduce energy reliance, and reusing existing elements where possible, as seen in my heritage restoration work.
How We Create Together
We start with a mood board that captures the emotional intent of the project. I invite clients to share what they love and how they live. This collaborative approach allows me to create homes that are not just beautiful, but deeply functional. Whether we are planning a ground-up villa or a complex interior renovation, my goal is to deliver a space that feels fresh yet timeless, serving as a sanctuary that supports your lifestyle for years to come.
