Styling for film isn't just about the outfit you see on screen. It is about the collaboration, the chaos, and the technical work that happens before the camera rolls. Here is a look at the process behind the lens.

My official ID card as the Primary Costume Designer for the film "Crakk". This little badge represents a huge journey of creativity and hard work with an amazing team.

A wonderful moment with the talented Arjun Rampal on the set of "Crakk" in Poland. It was a pleasure to style his character's rugged and layered looks for the film.

All smiles and great vibes with Vidyut Jammwal on the "Crakk" set. Here he is in a futuristic silver metallic tracksuit, one of the more experimental costumes I designed for the film.

With my dear friend Ankit Mohan on the outdoor set of "Crakk". I am so glad to have styled him in this iconic red jumpsuit for his role in the film.

A candid moment of discussion with the team on the "Crakk" set in Poland. Collaboration like this is key to ensuring the costumes align perfectly with the director's vision.

Vidyut Jammwal having a fun moment behind the scenes of "Crakk". This shot captures the great energy on set, even while he is in his character's costume, a retro-striped puffer jacket.

A relaxed moment with Vidyut Jammwal between takes. His costume here is a simple orange t-shirt, distressed jeans, and combat boots, creating a rugged look for his character.

Another fun behind the scenes photo with Vidyut Jammwal. This captures the great relationship I build with the actors I style, making the creative process even more rewarding.

A happy picture with Arjun Rampal during the "Crakk" shoot. His relaxed, comfortable knitwear was a key part of his character's off-duty wardrobe.

A candid, black and white photo of me in work mode on set. This captures my focus and concentration while overseeing the costume department during a shoot.

About Behind the Scenes: The Making Of

On sets like 'Crakk', we weren't just picking clothes; we were engineering them. That metallic tracksuit you see? We had to test the fabric for reflection under extreme studio lighting and ensure it held up during intense stunt sequences. When you are planning a look, always perform the 'movement test'—if the talent cannot run, jump, or sit comfortably, the costume needs a rethink before we ever reach the camera.

The glamour of a finished shot is the final 10 percent of the work. The other 90 percent is managing logistics, sourcing, and constant communication with the director to ensure the visual language is consistent.

The Reality of Film Styling

When I designed the wardrobes for 'Crakk', every piece had a purpose. A puffer jacket had to be light enough for a stunt performer to move freely in, while still looking textured and high-fashion under the Poland lighting. We spent days coordinating with international crews to ensure that the costume's color palette popped against the environment, not just in a static fitting room.

My Process

My work on set involves three distinct stages:

  • Conceptualization: Reading the script to understand the character's background. Is this person wealthy? Are they struggling? The clothes should tell their story before they speak a word.
  • Technical Fitting: This is where I look for issues like jacket bunching, trousers riding up while seated, or fabric friction. I use body tape and expert pinning to make sure the silhouette stays perfect, no matter the action.
  • On-Set Continuity: A shoot is a long day. My team and I are monitoring the monitors for every take. If a collar flips or a strap twists, we are there to fix it immediately.

Whether it is an action movie with metallic tracksuits or a TV drama requiring elegant sarees, my goal remains the same: to help the talent embody the character through what they wear. The goal is to make the styling invisible so the audience sees only the person, not the costume.
