Cinematic Night Portraits in Mumbai
Mumbai transforms after dark, and my camera loves it. I use the city's street lights and neon glow to capture moody, atmospheric portraits that look straight out of a film. No studio, just you and the city night.

About Cinematic Night Portraits
For these night sessions, I rely entirely on ambient city light—street lamps, glowing storefronts, and traffic bokeh. We do not use flash or reflectors, so there is no stiffness; you just stand where the light hits you best, and I take care of the angles to make sure you pop against the dark Mumbai backdrop.
Night photography in Mumbai is different. We are not fighting for light; we are looking for the right kind of glow. Whether it is the warm yellow of a street lamp or the blueish hue of a passing car, that ambient light is what makes these shots 'ek number.'
I shoot these sessions using my Sony A7IV mirrorless setup. Because we are using low light, I look for textures—concrete walls, wet pavement, or metal railings—to add character to the frame. If you are planning a night shoot, pick an outfit with some contrast. If the background is dark, a lighter color stands out; if we are near bright neon lights, solid dark colors look sharp.
The 90-minute session gives us enough time to walk a specific route, say in Bandra or around Marine Drive, and capture different moods. We will do a mix of close-up portraits and wider shots that show off the environment. You get 15 high-res, professionally graded images in 5-7 days. It is simple, fast, and we make sure the final result feels like a movie still.
