About Varkari: A Tribute to Tradition
You do not need to hunt for costumes or props. I provide the complete Varkari attire including the pheta, tulsi mala, and musical instruments like the dholak and veena. The entire setup is ready in my studio, so you just need to bring your child for the session.
The Varkari tradition represents devotion and simplicity. Capturing this in a studio setting requires more than just clothes, it needs the right atmosphere. In this session, I create a dedicated space where your child looks and feels the part of a young devotee.
I use high-quality vinyl backdrops that feature temple interiors to ground the scene in reality. Alongside the traditional white kurta, dhoti, and turban, I have curated a collection of miniature props that are safe for toddlers. You will see idols of Vithoba and Rukmini, a small dholak, and a veena to give the frame an authentic musical touch.
What the session involves
- Styling: I handle the dressing and the traditional tilak application. These details make the portraits look natural rather than forced.
- Pose Guidance: Your child does not need to sit perfectly still. I work with their natural curiosity, letting them interact with the instruments or sit with the holy book, which leads to candid expressions that stand out.
- Environment: Everything takes place in my Kolhapur studio. This means the lighting is controlled and consistent, regardless of the weather outside. You get a clean, polished result without the unpredictability of an outdoor shoot.
Most parents choose this theme to connect their children with our cultural roots in a way that feels playful and sweet. It is a simple way to preserve a piece of our heritage.
