About Diverse Wedding Traditions
When you are planning a wedding rooted in specific cultural traditions, you need a photographer who knows when to step back and when to guide. I make it a point to understand the specific flow of your rituals beforehand so I never miss the 'antarpat' in a Maharashtrian wedding or the ring exchange in a Christian ceremony. My goal is to capture the flow of the day without disrupting the sanctity of the moment.
Understanding Cultural Nuances
Photography is not just about having a good camera. It is about understanding the significance of what is happening in front of the lens. Having shot across Maharashtrian, Muslim, and Christian weddings, I know that each community has specific 'must-have' moments.
My approach is to be unobtrusive. During rituals, I prefer to stay on the sidelines, capturing the genuine reactions of family members and the couple, rather than forcing everyone into stiff poses. I have learned to predict when a key moment is coming, whether it is the emotional bidaai or a high-energy reception entry, allowing me to frame the shot perfectly without getting in the way.
How I Work
- Pre-Event Planning: Before we start, I like to run through the schedule with you. If there are specific rituals you are worried about or unique family traditions you want highlighted, let me know. This helps me position myself correctly to get the best angle.
- Natural Lighting & Angles: I use prime lenses to get that shallow depth of field, which works particularly well for intimate portraits and details like jewellery or mehndi.
- Versatility: Whether the event is in a hotel in Mumbai, a home setup in Ratnagiri, or a venue in Delhi, I travel with the same kit and the same philosophy—keeping it candid and telling the story of your day as it happens.
What to Expect
My packages are straightforward. You get a mix of candid shots that capture the 'real' stuff and traditional frames for family records. I provide high-res edited images within 30-45 days, ensuring the color grading is consistent and true to the vibe of your event. If you need a teaser for social media, I can have that ready for you within 48 hours of the event.
