Red is the heart of celebration, but here, it is about depth, storytelling, and architectural heritage. I blend traditional motifs with modern artistry to create immersive spaces that feel both ancient and deeply contemporary.

For 'Kaanch Bagh', I created my own version of a Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) in a stunning shade of red. The intricate structure, adorned with traditional white motifs, a ceiling of red florals, and hanging temple bells, served as a breathtaking mandap for a sacred ceremony.

A wider view of the 'Kaanch Bagh' setup, showing the tiered seating arranged around the magnificent red mandap. The design blends the grandeur of royal architecture with the sacred atmosphere of a traditional wedding.

The combination of intricate red and white architectural details, lush floral arrangements, and the grandeur of the setting created a truly magical ambiance for this wedding ceremony.

In 'Laal Bagh', I used florals to create dramatic, artistic installations. Here, a cascade of red flowers appears to flow from a tree, transforming the natural landscape into a whimsical part of the decor.

This video shows the immersive atmosphere of 'Laal Bagh', where the entire garden was bathed in a warm, red glow. From candlelit pathways to floral-draped trees and custom chandeliers, every element worked together to create a cohesive and magical experience.

A cozy lounge area from 'Laal Bagh', featuring a massive wall of candles set into arched niches. This design element provided a stunning backdrop and filled the space with a soft, romantic light, creating an intimate and luxurious vibe.

This seating arrangement from 'Laal Bagh' showcases the deep, monochromatic red palette. The plush velvet sofas, dramatic floral chandeliers, and abundant candlelight created a space that was both comfortable and incredibly glamorous.

A long dining table setup at 'Laal Bagh', where towering red floral arrangements and custom-made chandeliers created a sense of grandeur and intimacy for the dinner celebration.

The stage backdrop for 'Laal Bagh' was a modern, artistic interpretation of architectural ruins, outlined in red neon. This piece blended my love for historic Indian forts with a contemporary, edgy aesthetic.

About Regal Reds: Palatial Indian Designs

When I work with red, it is never just one shade or a flat wash of color. I build depth by layering textures, mixing velvet sofas against mirrored walls, or using thousands of glass votives to catch the light against a deep floral backdrop. My Kaanch Bagh concept, for instance, uses the architectural play of a Sheesh Mahal to make the color feel like it has been part of the palace for decades rather than just added for a single evening.

Bringing Royalty to Life

Designing for a regal theme requires restraint. It is easy to go overboard, but my process focuses on creating an environment that feels lived-in rather than set up. Whether it is a traditional wedding ceremony or a high-energy reception, I look for ways to make the space feel grounded.

The Art of the Detail

My approach to these palatial designs involves a few consistent pillars:

  • Architectural Installations: I often build structures like broken arches or custom facades to mimic the feeling of a historic fort or a glass house. This adds scale and drama that simple draping cannot achieve.
  • Sensory Layers: It is not just about visuals. I integrate auditory and olfactory elements, such as hanging brass bells that catch the wind or the scent of fresh tuberoses, to ensure the space engages all the senses.
  • Material Mixing: I love pairing raw, industrial elements like metal sheets or neon with traditional textures like velvet, cane, and marigolds. This contrast is what gives my work its distinct, modern edge.

Designing for the Venue

I treat every venue, whether it is a sprawling garden at the Rambagh Palace or a private farm, as a blank canvas. My goal is to integrate my design into the existing architecture. If the venue has natural stone arches or lush trees, I work with them rather than hiding them. The goal is to make the decor look like it belongs to the space, creating a setting where guests can truly lose themselves in the moment.
