The Glitch Pop: An Art-Inspired Wedding Experience
We transformed a private farm into a multi-room, immersive gallery. By blending the bold energy of Pop Art with the surrealism of Yayoi Kusama, we created a wedding experience that feels like stepping into a living painting.
The entrance to 'The Glitch Pop' was designed to build curiosity and set the stage for the artistic journey within. The hand-painted Parisian-inspired facade and the immersive light tunnel acted as a palate cleanser, preparing guests for the unexpected.
This room was an ode to the visionary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. I filled the space with her signature repetitive polka dots and surreal, tentacled sculptures to create an immersive installation that guests could walk through and engage with, blurring the lines between decor and art.
A closer look at the Kusama-inspired installations, where organic, sculptural forms are covered in hypnotic dot patterns. The intense red lighting and dramatic shapes created a powerful, otherworldly atmosphere for the sangeet night.
I dedicated the blue room to Picasso's Blue Period, using light and art to express emotion. The focal point was a pyramid of cards, hand-painted by our artists in a Cubist style, and a neon light installation recreating facial expressions, all bathed in an immersive blue glow.
A detail of the neon light wall inspired by Picasso. Each face, bent from glowing tubes, captures a different mood, turning the wall into a dynamic piece of art that reflects the emotional depth of Picasso's work.
This room paid homage to Roy Lichtenstein and the vibrant world of Pop Art. Using perforated metal sheets as a canvas, our artists recreated the iconic comic-strip style with bold colors, black outlines, and Ben-day dots, personalizing it with the couple's names.
A full view of the Pop Art room, featuring a custom comic book wall that tells a story. The space is filled with playful details like retro TV installations and custom-printed furniture, creating a fun, nostalgic, and highly graphic environment.
Inspired by urban culture, this room celebrated Graffiti Art. Our artists meticulously hand-painted the walls with the couple's names and favorite quotes, creating a dynamic, layered backdrop. The centerpiece was a smiley ball pit with a Kaws-inspired sculpture, adding an element of interactive fun.
A golden Kaws-inspired figure stands tall in a pit of yellow smiley-face balls. This installation was the heart of the Graffiti room, blending street art cool with a playful, luxurious twist that was perfect for photo moments.
For the pre-dining area, I created a tribute to Keith Haring's iconic doodle style. The walls and custom lampshades were covered in his signature black-and-white figures, accented with pops of color from framed prints, creating a high-energy, graphic space.
About The Glitch Pop: An Art-Inspired Universe
The real challenge with a theme this intense is ensuring it feels like a wedding and not just a static gallery. We achieved this balance by placing the massive artistic installations—like the Kusama-inspired tentacled sculptures and the neon-lit Picasso walls—alongside plush, intimate lounge zones. This allows your guests to fully absorb the visual drama while still having comfortable, grounded spaces to sit, talk, and actually enjoy the celebration.
The Glitch Pop was born from a desire to push boundaries. Riya and Ayush, our couple, trusted us to take their Sangeet beyond standard decor and into the realm of modern art. We approached the private farm not as a venue, but as a blank canvas.
The Artistic Blueprint
We dedicated each room to a different aesthetic movement, ensuring every corner offered a new narrative:
- The Pop Art Room: Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein, we utilized perforated metal sheets and vibrant comic-style graphics to create a nostalgic, high-energy environment.
- Kusama’s Influence: Using hypnotic red lighting and repetitive polka-dot patterns, we recreated the surreal, immersive quality of Yayoi Kusama’s work, turning the room into an interactive piece of art.
- Picasso’s Blue Period: This area focused on emotional depth, using custom-bent neon tubes to recreate facial expressions and a pyramid of hand-painted cubist cards.
- Memphis Design & Keith Haring: We played with geometric shapes and playful, black-and-white doodle art to bring a sense of graphic movement to the pre-dining spaces.
Technical Execution
Creating this 'Glitch' world required more than just paint and fabric. We utilized wall-to-wall masking to completely disappear the existing venue architecture. This allowed us to control the perspective entirely. With kinetic lighting rigs that responded to the music and custom-fabricated installations, we turned static walls into moving, breathing scenery. It is a reminder that when you commit to a vision, you can completely redefine the space you are in. 🫶
