Online Basketball Drills & Virtual Coaching
Don't let distance or busy schedules stop your progress. We have brought our court-proven drills into your home, helping you keep your handles sharp and your conditioning up wherever you have a ball and a bit of space.
Our "Lockdown Drills" series continues with a focus on shooting form, led by one of our academy's hardest workers, Siddhi. She breaks down the fundamentals of a good shot, from foot alignment to the follow-through.
In this drill, one of our U16 players demonstrates a two-ball dribbling routine. This exercise is excellent for improving hand-eye coordination, building ambidextrous handles, and maintaining ball control while keeping your eyes up.
This video demonstrates a wall-sit dribble drill. It's a tough but effective workout that simultaneously builds thigh strength for a strong athletic stance and improves ball-handling skills under physical fatigue.
One of our U17 players, Shresh, leads a tutorial on crossover fundamentals. He explains the importance of dribbling with your finger pads and keeping your head up to see the court, just like you would in a game.
This player-led "High-Fives" drill is designed to improve handles while forcing you to look up. The goal is to perform crossovers and behind-the-back dribbles while touching the wall, simulating awareness of your surroundings.
Here's a challenging drill for core strength and ball control. This V-Scissor pass-through exercise, led by one of our players, is a great example of how we use creative workouts to build functional athletic strength.
About this collection
While our recorded drill series gives you a solid routine, our live Zoom sessions add the crucial element: real-time feedback. Our coaches watch your form, correct your footwork, and ensure you are using those finger pads correctly, giving you the same level of technical attention you would get on our main court.
Basketball is a game of repetition and muscle memory. Our online platform was built to bridge the gap between being on the court and training at home. Whether you are working through our player-led lockdown drills or joining a live masterclass, the goal remains the same: steady improvement.
How We Train Online
- Video Drill Library: Follow along with our students as they break down fundamentals like V-Scissor pass-throughs, two-ball dribbling, and wall-sit crossovers. These are self-paced, allowing you to master each movement before increasing the speed.
- Interactive Zoom Sessions: We host live, 60 to 90-minute webinars where you train alongside others. These sessions are led by international guest experts and our own senior academy coaches who focus on specific technical deep-dives like shooting mechanics or handling pressure.
- Technical Focus: We do not just show you what to do; we explain why it works. From finger pad placement on the ball to maintaining an athletic stance for that explosive first step, we ensure the technical foundations are rock solid.
Getting the Most Out of Your Sessions
To see real results, consistency is key. We recommend setting aside a dedicated space, even if it is just a corner of a room, where you can move freely. Use our digital drill packets to track your progress between live sessions. Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the basics or an advanced player aiming to tighten your handles, our virtual program is designed to keep you game-ready at all times.
Absa
We are ABSA. To us, basketball is family, not just a game. We have taken the same energy and intensity we have on our Crossover Court and packed it into these online sessions, so you can train with us no matter where you are.
