Realistic Prosthetic & SFX Makeup in Bandra
From deep gashes to full character transformations, I create professional-grade SFX makeup that brings your costume to life. Let’s get messy and make something unique.
This is a peek into the process of creating a super realistic prosthetic wound. I start by sculpting the gash and then bring it to life with layers of color and plenty of fake blood. It's a messy and fun process, perfect for anyone looking to win the best costume prize at their next Halloween party.
It’s always a joy to get my little artistes ready for Halloween. For this Maleficent-inspired look, I created a gory arm wound to add a surprising twist to her costume. I use skin-safe products to make sure the experience is as fun and comfortable as it is spooky.
Look at these happy faces. The best part of creating special effects makeup for kids is seeing their excitement. Whether it's a simple cut or a full zombie arm, their smiles show that a little bit of spooky can be a whole lot of fun.
About Realistic Wound & Prosthetic Makeup
For my SFX makeup, I use a build-up technique with skin-safe liquid latex and tissue layers, not pre-made plastic molds. This allows me to sculpt the look directly onto your skin, ensuring it moves naturally with you. Everything I use is water-soluble, so while the effect looks intense and gory for your costume, it washes off easily with warm water and soap once the party ends.
Whether you are gearing up for a Halloween party, a themed photoshoot, or a film project, getting the right look shouldn't feel like a chore. At my Bandra studio, I approach SFX makeup as an art form rather than just a costume accessory.
The Technique
Instead of uncomfortable, pre-molded silicone pieces that rarely fit right, I use liquid latex combined with layered tissue. This allows for a much more realistic, torn skin texture that contours to your specific features. For the detailing, I use artist-grade pigments to add depth, bruising, and those crucial final touches of coagulated artificial blood.
Safety First
Because I also work with children—my little artistes—I am incredibly careful about what goes on the skin. Every material is skin-safe and water-soluble. You get a high-impact, gruesome look that lasts for 3 to 4 hours, but cleaning up is as simple as washing your face at the end of the night.
Session Details
I offer two main types of sessions at my Bandra West studio:
- Localized Application: For a single deep gash or wound, we spend about 20 to 30 minutes on the application.
- Full Character Transformation: If you want a full zombie, witch, or creature look, we spend 45 to 60 minutes blending the makeup seamlessly into your neck and costume for a complete effect.
