Creative & SFX Makeup Artistry
I explore the artistic side of makeup beyond bridal work. From horror-inspired SFX for short films to pop-culture character transformations, I love testing my limits with new materials and concepts.
Behind the scenes of my 'Squid Game' project. This video shows my team and me having fun with artificial blood and SFX techniques to recreate scenes from the show.
My makeup transformation into different characters from 'Squid Game', including the iconic doll. This project was a 35-hour effort that pushed my creative and technical skills.
More scenes from my 'Squid Game' makeup series, showcasing different character looks and the use of SFX makeup to create realistic effects like blood splatters.
My first opportunity as an SFX makeup artist for a horror short film. This video shows the application of gruesome special effects makeup to create a terrifying look for the character.
A fun behind-the-scenes look at my 'Heeramandi' inspired creative shoot. My cousin and I recreated the iconic looks from the series, complete with traditional attire and jewellery.
Just for fun. Another clip from our 'Heeramandi' shoot, where we enjoyed dancing and getting into character, showcasing the beautiful makeup and styling.
About Creative & SFX Makeup
When I take on a creative concept, whether it is a horror short film character or a detailed pop-culture homage like my Squid Game series, I treat it like a full-scale production. This isn't just about applying makeup, it is about understanding lighting, textures, and the narrative behind the look. I work with professional SFX materials like liquid latex, sculpting wax, and spirit gum to ensure every wound, scar, or character transformation looks authentic on camera, not just in person.
My love for SFX makeup started with a curiosity about what happens when you move away from beauty and into character design. After seeing the results of my first horror short film collaboration in Coimbatore, I was hooked. Creating these looks is a rigorous process that involves hours of sculpting, blending, and lighting design. It requires patience and a specific set of technical skills that differ completely from my bridal work.
Why I Push Creative Boundaries
I believe that a makeup artist should never stop learning. By experimenting with avant-garde fashion styles, prosthetics, and concept shoots like my Heeramandi series, I keep my skills sharp. This hands-on experience directly feeds back into my academy. When I teach my students, I am not just reading from a book, I am sharing the lessons I learned from a 35-hour shoot or the challenges of applying prosthetic pieces for a film scene.
