Eco-Friendly Ganpati Idol Making Workshops
Bring your own Bappa home this year. We use natural, sustainable Shadu clay and traditional shaping techniques to create a beautiful idol from scratch in our Bandra studio.
Watch the focused hands of my students as they shape and mold the clay. This video captures the beautiful process of bringing their Ganpati idols to life, piece by piece.
From a group of busy artists to proud creators holding their finished work. This clip shows the journey of our Ganpati workshop, ending with the children proudly displaying their decorated idols.
Even the littlest hands can create something magical. This young artist is completely absorbed in her eco-friendly Ganpati project, showing the focus and joy that art brings.
About Eco-Friendly Ganpati Idol Making
We move away from plaster of Paris and harsh chemicals. Instead, we use genuine Shadu clay, which is soft, pliable, and completely safe for children. You will learn the traditional pinching and coiling techniques to shape your idol from scratch, ensuring every detail of your Bappa is exactly how you envisioned it.
The Joy of Shaping Your Own Bappa
There is something truly grounding about working with natural clay. In my studio, we set aside the busy world to focus on the textures and forms of our Eco-Friendly Ganpati Idol workshop. This is not about perfection. It is about the process of molding, the tactile experience of shaping the ears, the trunk, and the base, and the quiet satisfaction of seeing a deity take form in your hands.
What You Will Create
During our 2-hour guided session, I walk you through each step. We use sustainable Shadu mati (clay) which is safe and dissolves naturally, making it the right choice for an eco-conscious celebration.
- Size: You can sculpt an idol ranging from 6 to 10 inches.
- Support: Every idol is built on a reusable wooden 'pat' (base) for stability during the sculpting process.
- Safety: We provide a dedicated box to ensure your wet clay idol travels home securely without losing its shape.
Why Eco-Friendly Matters
My workshops are designed to connect families back to the roots of our festivals. Using Shadu clay means that when it is time for visarjan (immersion), the idol dissolves gently and responsibly. It is a lesson in sustainability that children carry with them long after the festival ends. Whether you are coming in with your little ones or looking for a meditative session for yourself, this space is for you to get messy, laugh, and celebrate the season with creativity.
