Discover the magic of techniques like the Blurr effect and the balance of composition. Here in my Bandra studio, we move beyond the basics to help you find your own artistic voice.

Another beautiful example of the Blurr Technique. This student created a soft, misty background for the deer in her forest painting, giving it a magical quality.

"Why Balancing is important in Art." In this lesson, my students learned about the rule of opposites and composition by creating these colourful sunset paintings.

This student's version of the forest scene shows a different take on the Blurr Technique, with more defined bamboo stalks against a soft-focus background.

It is wonderful to see students work on the same project but produce unique results. Both of these Blurr Technique paintings have their own special charm.

Even my younger students can master advanced techniques. This little artist did a fantastic job creating a sense of depth in her blurry forest painting.

A great example of the Blurr Technique from one of my students, who created a mysterious and atmospheric forest path.

About Exploring Art Techniques

In this class, we often focus on the Blurr Technique, which creates that soft, misty atmosphere you see in my students' forest paintings. It is not just about applying paint; it is about knowing how to transition from dark, defined shapes to soft, airy edges using our own BAAKIN hybrid paints. You will learn to control the depth and focus on your canvas, turning a simple landscape into something that feels truly alive and three-dimensional.

Art is more than just putting colour on paper. It is about understanding the mechanics of how a viewer’s eye moves across your canvas. When I teach composition, we talk about the rule of opposites and finding balance. Whether you are painting a sunset or a dense bamboo forest, the principle remains the same: nothing on your canvas should be accidental.

The Blurr Technique, a favourite among my students, is particularly transformative. It requires a gentle hand and an understanding of how colours blend when wet. By focusing on these technical skills—depth, perspective, and lighting—you stop simply making art and start building an image. This approach helps younger students move past the fear of making mistakes, as they learn that a smudge or a blur can actually add depth rather than ruin the piece.

We also place a high value on freehand sketching. Tracing might give you a clean line, but it does not teach you the shape of the world. In my Bandra studio, we practice observing and drawing what we see, training the hand to follow the mind. Using my BAAKIN paints—which offer the flow of watercolour with the body of acrylic—we explore these techniques in an environment that is supportive, encouraging, and free from the pressure of perfection.
