Middle school at AES is a journey of self-discovery. From our vibrant fort system to hands-on project-based learning, we help students navigate these formative years with confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of belonging.

The year kicks off with our Fort Reveal Assembly. Sixth graders and new students are sorted into one of four forts: Neela, Peela, Laal, or Hara. This tradition builds community and sets the stage for a year of friendly competition.

Can the passenger survive? Our Grade 8 science students test their engineering skills with the classic egg drop challenge, kicking off their physics unit with a fun, hands-on experiment in momentum and impact.

Learning becomes a game at the Grade 7 Probability Carnival. Here, younger students try out a game designed and built by middle schoolers to demonstrate concepts of theoretical probability.

Two seventh-grade students explain their probability game to a classmate. This project required them to design, build, and host a carnival, applying their math skills in a creative and collaborative way.

A spin of the wheel determines the next move. Middle schoolers guide elementary students through their handmade probability games, creating a fun, cross-divisional learning experience for everyone.

A student explains the rules of her giant dice game at the Probability Carnival. This project allowed seventh graders to become teachers for a day, reinforcing their own understanding of compound events.

"I'm Hungry!" is the theme of this creative probability game. Students used spinners and cards to teach younger peers about chance and outcomes in a fun, engaging format.

Younger students eagerly line up to play a game at the Grade 7 Probability Carnival. This event is a highlight of the year, blending math, creativity, and community.

From trash to treasure. These piggy banks, made from upcycled materials, were one of the many creative products sold at the sixth-grade Upcycling Mela, a project focused on the circular economy.

The Upcycling Mela in full swing. Parents and teachers browse the stalls, learning about the circular economy from our sixth-grade entrepreneurs who designed and created products from repurposed materials.

About The Middle School Experience (Grades 6-8)

Unlike traditional middle schools where students stay isolated in grade-level silos, we use our 'fort' system to mix grades 6 through 8 together. Whether it is Neela, Peela, Laal, or Hara, your child immediately joins a diverse team for friendly competition and mentorship. It takes the pressure out of the middle years and turns social development into a daily, built-in experience.
