Community Service and Student Engagement at AES Delhi
Service learning at AES is about more than just projects; it is how our students build empathy, leadership, and real connections with the local community.
The Reach Out! high school service club celebrates a successful year. Our student volunteers provided academic support, sports, and creative activities for over 150 children from the local Vivekanand Camp.
The Make A Difference (MAD) Club hosted an eye clinic for students from local camps. In partnership with volunteer doctors, this initiative provided free vision screenings and essential care, reflecting our commitment to compassion in action.
Service is a key part of providing an extraordinary learner experience. Our director explains how we integrate service and leadership into our curriculum to help students develop confidence, empathy, and a sense of purpose.
In celebration of Earth Day, students and visiting experts engaged in activities focused on sustainability. From an upcycled fashion show to a T-shirt swap, we highlighted the power of "reuse, repair, rethink."
Our kindergarten students honor our essential support staff. The custodians visited classrooms to share about their work, and in return, students baked cookies and presented them with heartfelt thank you cards.
A kindergartener presents a thank you card and a cookie to a member of our custodial staff. This event teaches our youngest learners the importance of gratitude and recognizing everyone who contributes to our community.
A small gesture of appreciation. A student gives a thank you card to a staff member, learning that kindness and service are important values in our school community.
Students gather around our support staff to share their appreciation. These moments help build a strong, supportive, and respectful school environment for everyone.
A line of kindergarteners eagerly waits to give their handmade cards to our custodial staff. This activity was part of a week-long celebration of our school community helpers.

About Learning to Serve: Community Engagement
Service isn't a classroom exercise here; it is an active part of daily life, from our high school Reach Out club volunteering in local camps to our kindergarten students learning the importance of gratitude by honoring our support staff. When you join our community, you are not just enrolling in a school; you are joining a culture where students take the initiative to solve real-world problems alongside our faculty.
At the American Embassy School, we believe that extraordinary learner experiences are built on action. We integrate service and leadership into our curriculum, not as an afterthought, but as a pillar of our student development.
Whether it is the Reach Out club providing academic support to children in the Vivekanand Camp, or the Make A Difference (MAD) Club coordinating vision screenings with local doctors, our students are taught to identify community needs and create tangible solutions. This service-first mindset spans all age groups. In our elementary years, for example, students celebrate our custodians, learning that appreciation and kindness are as vital as literacy or numeracy.
Our approach balances academic rigor with social responsibility. Students engage in design challenges, such as the low-cost air filtration prototypes developed during Earth Day, and participate in projects that require critical thinking, technology, and empathy. By the time students reach high school and the IB Diploma Program, they are not just academically prepared; they are community-minded leaders ready to make a positive impact in Delhi and beyond.
