About A Nurturing Community: Our Classrooms & Friendships
In our classrooms, you will not find children separated by birth year. Instead, you will see a four-year-old gently showing a two-year-old how to use a puzzle map. This is by design. When an older child mentors a younger friend, they solidify their own understanding, while the younger child gains confidence from a peer rather than just an adult. It is this natural, respectful cycle of teaching and learning that turns a room of individuals into a supportive, nurturing community.
A Space That Teaches
At Chimes, we rely on the 'Silent Teacher' approach. This means our 10,000 sq ft Basavanagudi campus is organized, calm, and purposeful. The materials are placed at the child's level, inviting them to make choices and take responsibility for their own workspace. We believe that when a child moves through a space that is designed for their height and their need for order, they feel a sense of agency that rigid, desk-based classrooms simply cannot provide.
Why Mixed-Age Groups Matter
We group children aged 2.5 to 6 years together for a reason. This setup mimics a family structure. Younger children observe the more complex work of older children, which naturally sparks their curiosity and provides a roadmap for their own growth. Older children, in turn, have the chance to practice leadership and kindness by helping their younger peers. This environment reduces competition and replaces it with collaboration.
Developing Emotional Intelligence
Beyond academics, our daily rhythm includes 'Grace and Courtesy' lessons. We teach children how to resolve conflicts, express their needs, and move through the day with respect for themselves and others. Whether it is learning how to push in a chair quietly, asking a friend for help, or simply navigating the classroom without interrupting another child's work cycle, these skills build the emotional foundation they need for primary school and beyond. This is where the true 'Chimes way' comes alive—in the quiet moments of empathy between friends.
