I started Zia's Academy in 1989 to share my love for skating. Today, I am proud to see the children of my first students rolling with the same joy and passion.
Some stories come full circle. I started this academy in 1989, and there's no greater joy than seeing my former students, like Mr. Param Kapadia, bring their own children back to learn with us. This is the legacy of trust we've built over generations.
Age is just a number when you're having fun. We welcome skaters of all ages, like 50-year-old Kurush Mistry, who is thoroughly enjoying his journey on wheels with us.
Why should kids have all the fun? We offer adult roller skating programs for anyone looking to learn a new skill, get fit, or just have a great time.
It's amazing to see students who learned with us in their childhood, like Vrinda, still rolling with such grace and passion years later.
About A Legacy on Wheels: Since 1989
When I say we build generations of skaters, I mean it. I taught students like Param back in the 90s, and today, his son is training right alongside my son, Afzal. We are not just here to teach you how to stand on wheels; we are here to welcome you into a skating family that has been growing across Mumbai for over three decades.
Skating is more than a sport for us. It is a shared history. Since 1989, my academy has evolved from a simple passion for wheels into a community that spans Mazgaon, Colaba, and beyond. Whether you are coming to us for private home coaching in your building compound or joining our group sessions at school grounds like St. Mary's or YMCA, the focus remains the same: balance, confidence, and consistency.
We teach everyone, from toddlers taking their first wobbly steps to adults rediscovering their love for skating. Our classes are structured to fit your life, not the other way around. If you are a beginner, we focus on safe falling, basic movement, and having fun through games. If you are looking to compete, our advanced speed skating batches are intense, focusing on race strategy, endurance, and physical conditioning.
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all training. We adapt to the skater. That is why we offer girls-only batches, indoor sessions to avoid the Mumbai monsoon, and dedicated private training where my team comes to your location. I am Zia, and my life has been on eight wheels since 1989. Along with my son, Afzal, and our team, I run classes across Mumbai for everyone from toddlers to adults. We do things the old-school way—with heart, patience, and a whole lot of fun.
