The Art of Asana: From Foundation to Advanced Poses
Yoga is more than just flexibility—it is about stability and understanding your body. Whether you are starting your journey or looking to master complex poses, my training focuses on safe alignment, steady progress, and the 'why' behind every movement.
Here I am demonstrating Natarajasana (Lord of the Dance Pose) by the sea. This balancing pose improves focus and strengthens the legs and core. My course will help you build the stability needed for such asanas.

Many yoga poses are inspired by animals. This video creatively compares asanas like Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) and Bakasana (Crow Pose) to their animal counterparts, making them easier to remember.

This graphic explains the benefits of Ashtangasana (Eight Limbed Pose), the sixth pose in Surya Namaskar. It builds arm strength and enhances respiratory function.
A collection of powerful poses like Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose) and Ustrasana (Camel Pose) practiced in a serene natural environment. This shows the strength and flexibility you will develop.
About The Art of Asana: From Foundation to Advanced Poses
In my sessions, I emphasize alignment over everything else. Many students come to me worried about not being able to touch their toes, but the real progress happens when you learn how to engage the right muscles to protect your spine. Whether you are practicing a simple Surya Namaskar or working toward Bakasana, I help you spot your own mistakes so you can practice safely on your own.
From Foundation to Mastery
Learning asanas is not about forcing your body into a shape; it is about building a connection between your sharir (body) and mann (mind). My teacher training curriculum is designed to take you through the full spectrum of yoga—from the fundamentals to more advanced practices.
The Learning Progression:
- Foundational Poses: We start with the basics of Hatha and Surya Namaskar. My goal here is to fix your posture and breathing patterns. If your base is weak, you will always struggle with advanced moves.
- Alignment & Safety: This is where many practitioners get injured. I teach you the mechanics of the pose. For instance, in a simple Cobra Pose, I show you how to distribute the weight so you aren't straining your lower back.
- Advanced Asanas: Once you have the strength and flexibility, we move to poses like the Crow Pose (Bakasana) or balancing acts like Natarajasana. I break these down into small, achievable steps so you don't feel overwhelmed.
Why the 'Small Batch' Approach Matters
I intentionally keep my batches in Kurla and Chembur small (10-15 students). In a crowded class, it is impossible for a teacher to notice that your knee is slightly out of place or that you are holding your breath. In my training, I walk the floor, observe your practice, and provide real-time corrections. You are not just learning to do the pose; you are learning how to teach it to others by identifying the mistakes that beginners typically make.
Whether you are training for personal growth or to become an instructor, you will find that my approach is sahaj (simple) yet prabhavshali (effective). We work with props like blocks and straps to make sure you get the benefits of the pose even if your body isn't ready for the full expression yet.
