Traditional Yogic Techniques: Kriyas and Mudras Training
Real yoga goes beyond the mat. Learn how to cleanse and center yourself with ancient Kriyas and Mudras in a safe, guided environment.
A detailed demonstration of Jalneti kriya. I explain how to use a neti pot with salt water to cleanse the nasal passages, which is very effective for clearing mucus and relieving sinus issues. This is followed by Kapalbhati to complete the process.
This video shows several of my students practicing Jalneti during a workshop. You will get hands on training in this and other kriyas, ensuring you can perform and teach them correctly and safely.
This clip introduces different types of mudras, such as Dhyan Mudra and Ling Mudra. You will learn the specific benefits of each mudra and how to incorporate them into meditation and pranayama practices.
About Beyond the Mat: Traditional Yogic Techniques
We do not just jump into advanced techniques here. I teach Jal Neti with a focus on hygiene and technique, starting with the right salt solution and proper nasal positioning to clear sinus congestion effectively. Similarly, when we cover Mudras like Dhyan or Ling, we talk about the energy channels you are activating. You get hands-on correction, so you learn to perform these safely, whether you are doing it for personal health or eventually teaching it to your own students.
In my 20 years of practice, I have found that students often miss the cleansing and meditative aspects of yoga. That is what we change in this curriculum.
The Science of Cleansing (Kriyas)
We start with Shatkarmas, focusing heavily on Jal Neti. It is not just about pouring water; it is about understanding anatomy—clearing the nasal passages to relieve sinus pressure and improve respiratory health. You will practice this under my supervision until you are confident enough to do it independently. We also integrate Kapalbhati immediately after to ensure the passages are dry and clear. It is effective, simple, and gives immediate relief.
The Power of Mudras
Hand gestures are subtle but powerful tools for redirecting energy. We cover Dhyan Mudra for deep focus and Ling Mudra for heat and metabolic support. I teach you how to incorporate these into your daily meditation practice rather than treating them as separate, disconnected exercises.
Why This Matters for Instructors
If you are training to be an instructor, you cannot teach what you have not mastered. These techniques add a layer of depth to your classes that standard gym-based yoga often lacks. My approach is 'sahaj, saral, prabhavshali' (easy, simple, effective). You will learn not just the ‘how’ but the ‘when’—knowing which Kriya or Mudra to suggest to a student based on their health condition, whether it is chronic sinusitis or high stress. Join us in Kurla or Chembur to experience this shift in your practice.
