Think you need fancy activewear to start your practice? Think again. This collection shows how I blend comfort and culture, proving that yoga is about showing up just as you are.

The Surya Namaskara, or Sun Salutation, is a complete workout in itself. Here, I flow through the sequence in a saree to show that movement and tradition can go hand in hand beautifully.

Finding stillness in a warm-up stretch. This is a gentle upper body stretch while seated in Vajrasana, a great way to prepare the shoulders and spine for deeper poses.

A demonstration of Nasika Mudra, or alternate nostril breathing, while seated in a comfortable cross-legged position. This pranayama is excellent for balancing the mind and body and is a core part of my breathwork workshops.

This is Kapalabhati, a powerful breathing technique that helps detoxify the body and clear the mind. If you're feeling angry or anxious, a few rounds of this can make a world of difference.

Let's pause and breathe with some Alternate Nostril Breathing. This video shows the hand position (Nasika Mudra) and the calm rhythm of this pranayama, which is perfect for reducing stress.

About Yoga in a Saree

The biggest misconception about yoga is that you need expensive activewear to start. When I practice in a saree, I'm showing that the fabric doesn't define your flow—your breath and intent do. Whether you are in gym wear or traditional attire, the mat doesn't care; it just wants you to show up, breathe, and move.
